I'm getting ready to head to Nashville for a business trip (leaving Sunday) and I need help! I usually work from home, so my "work attire" consists of sweats and tshirts and fuzzy slippers. I've recently lost enough weight that my work clothes from my office days last year no longer fit me at all. (Anybody need a bunch of size 14 dress pants???)
I did, however, find some stuff that's been hanging out in the back of my closet for a long time that I saved for "one day" when I could fit into them again........and it appears "one day" is here as I can now fit into this stuff! BUT.........
The question is - is this stuff still in style? Specifically this jacket and skirt (note the fringes around the collar and hemline):
If I was just going to my old office, I wouldn't care, but I will be interacting with a VIP customer and want to make sure I don't look 10 years outta date!!!!
I'd love to see you IN the suit, but the "fringes" are actually in style... the skirt looks kinda long, but again, hard to say from a hanger... My guess is you'd be fine wearing it...
The skirt is kinda long, but if you wear it with the boots you're totally fine! Wear a nice black shirt/blouse with it and you'll knock 'em dead. Congrats on fitting into your "one day" clothes by the way.
Well, considering I have two outfits really similar, I hope it's fairly in style
Seriously though, the boots are important to the outfit and make sure that the weather is 'cool' enough to where it looks like you are in your winter wear. Wouldn't want to wear this over the weekend in Miami.
Is it a grey? I can't tell the colors much with my computer. If it is, I would 'flash' it up with a bit of silver jewelry. Not a lot, but something to make it 'professional', not librarian.
Personally, I never wear skirts shorter than knee length in a business environment, so I think the length is really nice. I don't like having to worry when I sit down that it is coming up too far.

I think that outfit will be good with the black boots that are pictured - very tailored.
I hear ya on the work clothes dilemma. For over 5 years, I worked at an office that was very, very casual (jeans and sneakers), and when I landed my current position, I had to upgrade my wardrobe. What a PITA that was!

From the picture, I assumed the length of the skirt was below the knee. Mid-calf maybe? Based upong that assumption, I said the boots would be key to not make it look frumpy. If the skirt hits the knee or just below, it's fine with a pair of pumps.
Jill - you are correct - it's mid-calf. I have to go out and get a black shirt to wear with it, but at least that's one less complete outfit I have to buy!
Thanks for the feedback - I'm so NOT a fashionista!!!

You can wear something simple underneath like a black short sleeved sweater or a nice black t-shirt. Of course, you can wear OTHER colored shirts with it too! Red, white, gray, etc.
