Default Question for ipod users

I'm looking for a car adapter for my ipod. I've always delt with the cassette ones, but the car i MAY be getting has an AUX/MP3 plug installed into it. So, i need a plug that will work with my IPOD classic 6th gen.

Anyone have any suggestions for the brand? I'm having a hard time locating what i'm looking for on amazon.

I was thinking something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/MONSTER-123876...750298&sr=1-34

not sure if it will work though, as i can't see the other end of it, but i assume it's a dual plug.

Any help would be appreciated for this seemingly simple question.

I don't have an ipod but I do have a Zen mp3 and an aux-in in my dash (originally for a CD player ) and I use a cord very like that - 1 male mini on each end.

My car does not have an aux-in, but I routinely plug my iPod into a boom box with an aux-in using the cable you describe. I also have a separate one to plug into my stereo ... it has one jack into two ... left and right audio jacks.

That's what you need, but don't buy Monster, they are a total rip off. Look here at the M/M ones and pick the length you need. Try to keep as short as possible to limit distortion since it'll be an analog connection.

See if you can find one that will charge your pod at the same time. It does not seem like a big deal, but it is a nice convenience. I got one that plugs into the ipod "mount" rather than the earphone and it charges the ipod at the same time. However, I recently bought an itouch, and it does not charge off of the "old style plug ins" (apple are bastards when it comes screwing you by changing their plugs. I have had about 8 powerbooks/macbooks and none of the plugs are inter-changable #^I$O&^$^&!!)

Not a big deal? actually it is a real annoyance not having my battery charging since the itouch has so many battery intensive functions... (it has never run out.. but)

cheers

I have an Aux in on my car and I use the cable that was provided with the Ipod and it works fine. It doesn't charge the battery because it goes from the speaker output to the car input but lets face it I'm never that far from a charger.

It is a black cord with 2 male ends. I'm pretty sure it came with mine. In any case it is not the highest of quality and it works well.

must be an old ipod, as currently Apple only gives a plastic adapter for the dock, a crap set of headphones and an adapter cable. Even with their expensive iPod touches they only add a slightly dearer set of headphones.

I have had it for a couple of years now. What's the adapter cable look like?
