Default My JP Presentation

A few people have pointed out that my presentation was good concerning skeptical thinking in general but they could not really see how it applied to the fitness industry (needed more specific examples). Sorry if I failed to get the message across clearly, but of course skeptical thinking applies to the fintess industry just as it does any and every field. If time had permitted I was going to lay out specifics (relating to industry). This article may make things a little clearer http://maxcondition.com/page.php?105

If this industry was approached with more emphasis towards skeptical tactics and less adherence to BS and Lies everyone would save tons of money, time and heart ache.

If you are interested in skepticism check out my interview with Todd Riniolo at www.knowledgesummit.net

Sorry if I created any confusion. Anyways I had a great time and it was an honor to present.

thanks,
Coach Hale

Thanks Coach. First of all, thanks for kicking my ass soundly with the workout. It was pretty damn cool.

Thanks for posting the links. I agree with your presentation, and understand where you were going with it. I was thinking about what you said on the way home and have decided to practice skeptical thinking not only with what I read concerning fitness, but in other areas as well. Like you said, it applies to so much more. I'm not sure that my boss will like it, but we'll see. I hope that you'll be attending (and perhaps presenting at) future summits.

I agree Michael, I could totally see where Coach Hale was going ... and I am so gullible and trusting that I NEED someone to kick my ass to be more skeptical!!

Coach, it was a pleasure to meet you and hear your presentation. I wish that I had been feeling better and had been able to participate in your workout ... next year ...

Coach, I hafta agree with the other two posters. I totally get why this is a critical element of our fitness lives. I have never experienced any other hobby/endeavor filled with so much bullshit as the fitness industry and especially the nutritional aspect of it. If not for skeptical thinking skills I would be spinning my wheels endlessly going from one stupid theory to the next because it came from some guru. As a trainer, these skills come in handy in helping me to plough through the dogmatism that exists in this industry and come to reasonable decisions on how to approach technique, training, etc. This presentation should be engrained into every beginner in this industry. It would save them countless hours of spinning in the end.... I want to force feed it to every trainer I meet so that they stop believing and selling all the bullshit. Simple concepts, yet requires work so....

Thanks for coming and I hope to meet you again! I thoroughly enjoyed your company and classes. (both of them)

Thanks Coach... I have been bitten a couple of times that I wish I would have been a little more skeptical on before pulling out the checkbook.

Looking at setting up a max condition program, once the shoulder heals a little more. (yes, Julie, still using the lacrosse ball on the shoulder )
