It'd make sense to be a soft G, as it's followed with an e… but then if one considers German rules…
And next Summit you'll teach everyone how to say "EE-fuh" and not "Ay-Oy-Fee."

Elisabeth, Kathy, Michael, and Rob ~ We didn't get to chat much, so we'll have to spend more time together next year!!
Julie, it was one of the great disappointments of my summit experience that I didn't get a chance to talk with you more. It seemed that everytime I looked for you, you were otherwise engaged or had gone to bed early!! Definitely a "must do" for next year!

Before it gets too far off, I'd like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with the forumites at the Summit. To be honest, I wasn't that enthused about this year's summit for a variety of reasons related to the home front. However once Nick & Julie glided into a parking spot to pick me up at the airport, that all changed. Scores of smiling faces, hearty handshakes and hugs made me realize why I'd attended four previous Summits and still stop by the forum every day. This is a great place filled with great people. I enjoyed meeting all the Summit newbies and catching up with the veterans. Plenty of conversations to reminisce about over the coming months. Thanks to each of you for making this year's Summit one of the best yet. I'm already looking forward to next year's event.
Thanks again,
Greg
PS - Special thanks to Nick for spearheading this Summit and thanks to Bill and David for their supporting roles in making the event run smoothly.
.... not to mention your great roomie ...

Absolutely!! And hopefully next year my life won't be so crazy that I am so sleep deprived and needing to catch up on sleep!! Having strep the week before and then dealing with Matt's pending surgery sure didn't make me feel my best when in KC.

aaaactually, technically, it's "ee-feh" and not "ee-fuh" or "ee-fa" …but whatever. At least most people don't call me oof.
Really? So it's not the Irish Aoife, or "ee-fa"?

I had to look it up on the Internet because their is no translation into Texan speak and I got tired of garbling in my mind. The most common I found was the Irish pronunciation so that's what I was going with.
A good nickname will solve this problem. Either that or it's time to release the sound file.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That would be true, if the name were German. However, believe it or not, it is Italian. It was corrupted (no doubt by some German fellow) when my grandparents came through Ellis Island. The original name stems from Ghizelbardi, which has it's heritage in the Latin name Giselbertus.
I get both versions, hard and soft "G", so it has never bothered me and I rarely correct anyone on it.

Just heard a shout out on a national syndicated TV show to Oklahoma Joes bbq in KC and specifically the Z-man sandwich. Glad we made the trip on Thursday, but we need to figure out a way for all Summit attendees to sample their food.

Ah Lou, once again you demonstrate that you are so wise....
The place is not near the Plaza and has relatively small seating for a group as large as the Summit attendees ended up being. If there is a way, Nick will find it.

Oklahoma Joe's has catering, but we'd have to eat it in Nichols Park across the street or somethin. I don't think the hotel will allow outside food vendors.

1. Mike pretending he couldn't get the picture of John doing push ups on the raised bars. He took it first time but held the ruse long enough that John ended up doing about 10 pushups before realising the joke - he laughed it off in good humour.
2. John and Rob doing their Karate Kid/ Mr Miyagi impressions on the low stools. It was great to see it come together. They both saw the stools and in an instant were craning one footed :- when the picture is posted it'll go down as a Summit classic.
3. The BBQ dinner with Greg, David and Jamie. I wasn't sure which meats to pick so asked the waitress to surprise me, the end result was fantastic. The meal was great and the company wonderful - as I'm sure you all know Greg is extremely sharp and quick witted.
4. The final evening at the Flying Saucer and Winsteads. Spoke to Gabe on the phone it was great to hear from him again - the man is a legend. The 'final frosty' was great and laughing that ensued. Can't share the joke but I was sooooo close to puking up my frosty in the bathroom with laughter. Thanks
Nick, you did a great job mate – you should be proud of yourself. Thanks for the last minute dash back to the airport also.
Bill and Dave – Great job in the supporting roles, I know you put a lot of effort in, it’s very much appreciated. Bill has been my taxis service for 3 years now; a nicer guy you could not meet. Great to meet David (or should I say Sensei) great bloke, he and I were on the same wavelength on a few issues.
Far too many attendees to mention all by name, I was at my heaviest weight ever at this Summit and was pretty down about it to be honest - I’d lost my motivation. The Summit and specifically the attendees inspired me once again. I read a quote in a Donald Trump book I think sums it up well – “at times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who relit that flame within us. THANKS GUYS. Random thoughts
Baseball night – I was going to get a peck on the cheek from those girls but bottled it at the last minute…. High fives had to suffice. Kansas City is a great city, I loved it.
A lot of people looked in great shape, everyone on Alan’s slides have done really well, but Tom (Stingo) you stole the show…phenomenal.
Over the past 3 years that I’ve been going to the Summit I’ve accumulated a lot of change, I went through it today and found I know have quarters for 37 states.
Sorry to those who I didn’t get a chance to speak with, as you probably could tell I’m actually very shy around new people… please don’t take my quietness to mean I’m being ignorant. It’s strange that I can speak in front of 400 people and deliver a good presentation but I struggle with smalltalk. I realize that sometimes I appear ‘standoffish’ but honestly I try not to be. The more I see people and build a rapport the more I come out my shell. next year folks….

You guys have officially made a lurker into a poster.
As a quick intro, my name is JT. My gf Nancy and I came up to the Summit last weekend. I think it was an amazing experience, not just to be surrounded by a bunch of great ppl (Mahler & his frozen custard!!!), but also ppl passtionate about fitness. Not everyone was a iron head like me, but I enjoyed the fact that everyone loved fitness in some way. Us folks are an endagered breed, and I can find myself hard pressed to find such a high concentration of like minded individuals anywhere.
Thank you for welcoming a stranger into your fold with open arms. I think after a few years of lurking, I may finally have something to worthwhile to say...

Sorry that I had to miss the summit, it sounds like it was a blast, again. I was in South Carolina competing at USA Rugby Nationals. Maybe next year.
How did it go, Craig? Were you victorious? We missed you this year, buddy.
