Default Calling all music geeks...

Okay, I need help picking a song. I'm doing a silly project for college. It's about the city where the college is. You basically have to string 20 pictures together and throw some music into it. It's for an elective (Creative Thinking), this is not what I'm in school for.

So, trying to come up with a theme, I decided on doing two views of the city. The first part was a basic commuter thing, using shots I took from the car (yes, while it was moving mainly). The music I used here was "Working in a Coal Mine" (the Devo version, just because I had it).

I just can't think about what to use for the second part. It's freaking cold here still and none of the pictures are particularly 'pretty' as all the leaves are off the trees and the grass is brown. Although I did the best I could. The pictures are:

- a local park, wide open space
- a shot over the escarpment, with the lake in the background
- a hiking trail going into the woods
- a small waterfall
- a rocky beach with a city skyline in the background
- downtown waterway
- second view of the downtown waterway (a busy place in the summer)
- a local castle (really just a mansion from the 1800s, but they call it a castle)

I just can't pull a tune out of my head to put with the second half. The first tune has a very strong repetitive beat, so I'm thinking something more free form. I keep thinking Freebird, maybe just the intro, but I don't know.

Any thoughts /suggestions?

Brad Mehldau covering Radiohead's "Knives Out" might have the vibe.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tomorrow I'll have to go listen to some and then hopefully I can finish off my project. Thanks again!

Lucky Town
Land of Hope and Dreams

(both by Springsteen)

((I'd suggest Girls in their Summer Clothes, but it's cold))

A Long December: Counting Crowes
Watching the River Flow: Bob Dylan
Maybe a Beach Boys song.... Good vibrations or wouldn't it be nice (for spring theme)

I also like the Springsteen suggestions, but i'm a bruce junkie

It's not too late. Although I did pick a tune (Unwritten) I'm not sure I'm that struck on it. I'm overloaded with other school work this week, so I'm probably going to take another look at it later in the the week (or even the weekend). So I will check them out first.
