I voted for the person I thought would do the best job.
That's all you're getting.

If you click on "poll results" you'll see that you actually know ten people who supported McCain.

I was going to vote 3rd party, but at last second voted against Obama. I wasn't thrilled about McCain, but I don't support much if anything of what Obama wants to do. All of my other votes were anti-incumbent. I'm going to vote against anyone who passed the bailout bill as long as they are in office.

I voted for Obama for a few reasons. I can honestly say that one of the most appealing aspects of his run is the fact that he is very eloquent and young, and the promise of a breath of fresh air from what we have had for the past 8 years.
As for the issues, i didn't support the bailout either. I do favor Obama's campaign for alternate fuel as opposed to McCain's off shore drilling.
I don't like the idea of putting an ex-military member in office while we are at war, and after he said he wants to keep troops in Iraq for a long long time. At least w/ Obama, there may be a chance we'll start moving back to normalcy. I never supported the war either, and have always thought it was a huge mistake.
Another reason are the tax breaks, which i agree with. Tax the companies like oil who have made money off this war and eventual recession instead of the people with shitty jobs. Health care was also a big issue for me, as my parents are getting older. I'd like for a president to actually consider good health care instead of making us pay.
I thought McCain's concession speech yesterday was one of the best i've heard from him, and pretty much any candidate. If he had spoke like that, he may have the presidency. One of the big things about Obama, IMO, is his excellent public speaking skills. While this doesn't mean he will be a good leader, his speeches are very inspirational to listen to, with a promise of something (whether this comes through or not will be seen), and is a huge change from the NukUlar speeches given by the current president.

I was thinking the same thing.

That was McCains main problem. He was running against Bush and Obama. In hindsight I'm surprised McCain even got the vote he did.

Alternative fuels are coming. High energy costs finally made more expensive alternatives look attractive. McCain isn't against alternative fuels, but he correctly realizes that it takes time and you need to bridge the gap while we work towards that goal. Even Obama finally came around on drilling. And don't let people fool you about the environmental aspects of offshore drilling. These are the same people that don't want wind turbines offshore either. They are more worried about the view from their beach house than they are about the environment.

I agree the war was a mistake. Problem is that it is water under the bridge. We're there and now we have figure out the correct strategy to leave. Obama originally wanted to bring everyone home right away, but he has changed his position to be closer to McCains of working with the generals to figure out the best timeline. Also, we'll most likely always have troops there the same way we have them in Germany, Saudi Arabia, etc...

We'll just have to agree to disagree here. The oil companies already paid A LOT of taxes on their profits. Guess what, so did their shareholders (damn double taxation on my dividends). Oil companies also don't set the prices of oil or gas. One of the big issues is refinery capacity. Enviros crush it anytime an oil company wants to build a new refinery. Is it the oil companies fault when they want to build, but can't through the gov. red tape?
Healthcare is a big issue and one that is going to be hard to fix. I'm not sure getting the gov. even more involved is the way to fix things. And don't worry someone always pays. If you're thinking that you'll just tax Bill Gates for 50B and then pay for everyones health care that isn't going to work.
Regardless of what I think about Obamas ideology, I'm still excited that it shows no matter what anyone thinks, that the USA is still the greatest country on earth. December 1, 1955 is when Rosa Parks refused to change seats on a bus. And now, only 54 years later, we have elected a black man as President of the United States. Obama wasn't born to some rich family, but a normal middle class family. He worked hard and went to Columbia and then Harvard and has now become the President. He is the embodiment of the American dream.

just think... if the US legalized weed like michigan did (for legal purposes), but instead for the whole population, and then taxed it, health care problems would be paid for.

Sorry to rain on your dream, but any potential tax revenues would be offset by the unemployment benefits paid to DEA agents, court officials and staff, corrections and parole officers and other people gainfully employed by the "War On Drugs".

war on drugs doesn't only target weed though. it also targets harder drugs. They would just refocus their target.
