Default Need ideas: physical education for 10 yr old

We are homeschooling our son, who is 10. I need some ideas on what we can do to meet his home school physical education requirement. He doesn't like sports. He is healthy and well, no major health problems. He has to have a "structured" program, but we have limited funds.

Please....something creative and imaginative, not just bowling, baseball, hiking, etc.

Any ideas anyone?

Our local Parks & Rec has a pretty good TKD class that runs about $35 a month, that could be something to look into. We're with a private school now that costs about $100/mo, but we spent several years with parks and rec, and it was a great program.

If you have any YMCA's around you, I would call them and see what they offer. I know ours has gym classes for homeschool kids, and even if they don't have that most have kid fitness type classes of many different varieties.

It's always going to depend on the kid. I started lifting weights very early in life b/c of the availability of weights to me. Other kids started soccer, basketball, etc. I know you said none of those, but what about swimming?

I was thinking swimming too. Being able to pass a swim test was mandatory at my son's high school.

I actually got some good insight from Lisa here (Thanks!), and found an excellant resource on playgroud drills and how to make a playground into a circuit workout without having it look like a workout! Lots of games, drills, etc as well.

Thanks everyone. Oh, and he does swim, but he's not fond of it.
