Default Movember

I don't know if anyone here has heard of Movember, but I recently read about it on one of the way-too-many blogs I follow. Basically, it's a month-long event to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and other men's health issues through the growth (and possible grooming) of moustaches and facial hair in general. Nothing spectacular, just one of relatively few campaigns aimed at health issues for men.

I've set up both an official Movember page, where you can donate (registration #1393546) or join my team, and an unofficial Movember page on my blog, where I'll have updated pictures posted first (will later make it to the official page) as well as running commentary and comments from others.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in. I won't grow facial hair, but I will sponsor you, buddy.
I went to your site and made the donation.
Best of luck.

I'll pitch in, but I think we should have some input into the style of said facial hair. Maybe we could even vote on various patterns that you'd be obliged to grow if we meet some pre-determined contribution level.

Or, if you have the "balls":

Thanks, John. I somehow figured you get in on this (though it'd be funny to see you with a furry face).

Something to keep in mind is that I got my hair from the Japanese side of the family, so my facial hair doesn't grow that quickly. I'll be lucky to get to Richard Karn (Al on Tool time) level in a month, but we'll see.

As for getting a say-so, I'm going full-faced rather than just a moustache, though either way means lost beer in the whiskers. Not sure how much leeway that offers. Besides, if/when I get my liftSTRONG stuff going again for the summit, I'm planning on selling off body parts at various prices for clean-shaving (PG-rated)

Also keep in mind that I'm not doing this for the money so much as for the buzz (yuck yuck). I'd be as happy with $0 and lots of comments and website hits as I would be with mucho dinero.

I am bumping this, because I know I had forgotten about it.

Any updates?

Well, it's finally over. I ended up with $65 in my name (after having no fundraising goal) and a face full of scruff. Pictoral progress log can be seen on my blog (link in my signature). I've been asked to keep at least some of the growth, but I'm debating. I really don't like the feeling of hair on my upper lip, so I may just go with a shadow for now. I haven't figured out when I'm going to have time to play around with different looks, but it'll be soon--this stuff HAS to come off!

So, in case you didn't notice, it's November. Halfway through, actually. Just saying

Please tell me that you're not performing free exams again this year.
