My Dad's 80th birthday is coming up and my sister and I decided we are going to get him a digital frame and load it up with a bunch of family photos. My BIL has the task of getting it loaded and then keeping it up-to-date as we have new pictures we want him to have.
So, any recommends on frames from all of you? My BIL is pretty computer savvy, so getting it set up and updating it won't be a problem. However, my dad has never seen a computer in his life (well, he's seen one, but never been on one!). So, it has to be VERY easy to operate. Like push a button and the pictures start playing easy.
Otto was drooling over a couple good ones for a while, I'll be sure to point out this thread to him, in case he still has links handy. Buy.com or somewhere similar prolly had them for a gud price.
Ones I was looking at were about a year ago, and I've noticed they've gotten a lot cheaper & bigger since then... so I honestly have no clue what's good anymore.
We got my parents a Ceiva about 3.5 years ago when Dad was still living. They LOVED that thing! I'm sure the offerings/technology have improved since then.
Mine run non-stop so I don't have to fiddle with the buttons etc. I kinda use them as night lights so I don't fall all over the place at night, in the dark. Hopefully your dad will do the same so you don't have to fiddle with them.
I have a Pandigital brand one sitting next to me as I type. It has been great, easy to use and we are actually buying another one today as a gift for someone also.

If there's a wireless network at the house where the frame is going, consider getting one that's wifi enabled. You can email pics to it and send txt messages.
This is irony for ya. My wife just gave me one she had ordered and it was delivered today to be put on my desk at work.

Hopefully, it won't scare the guy when something new pops up!
WiFi? Are you kidding? This is my 80-year old dad we are talking about. It's a miracle they don't have dial phones anymore and that's only because they finally got forced into touchtone.

I hear ya, LD. But, you couldn't GIVE my dad a computer. They are evil, don't you know?
He just calls me when he wants info on one of his stocks. "Can you look something up for me?" Doesn't say "on the computer" because he doesn't want it to appear that a computer is actually USEFUL or anything!
there are frames that you purchase dial up for, that are exclusive to the frame so that anyone from anywhere can upload new pics to it. We looked into getting one for my grandmother for christmas (she too, won't go near a computer). They're pretty cool but it was slightly expensive cause you're paying for the ability to upload them from around the world. I thought it would be neat cause then she'd wake up to new pictures.
