Doing anything interesting for the Fourth of July?
I realize that there is an international following here but for those of you in the US are you doing anything fun for the Holiday?
I will be leaving for Northern Wisconsin in a few hours. There I will partake in some fishing, running and some other not so healthy pursuits such as cocktailing and fine dining.

90 minute run, some core work, and then a few beers with the boys. Carb up dinner for a 3 1/2 hour brick Saturday. I love having days off of work.

I usually go to the montreal fireworks festival. It's like a six week event, where countries compete by creating a 30 minute pyromusical. They usually have a show around 4th of july.
Nothing real exciting. Today is Hubby's birthday but he has to work, so we are going to cook out tomorrow evening and just enjoy the fact that neither of us has to work.
Happy 4th!

and the shitty thing about that (besides the work itself, although I am getting paid to read and watch kids play baseball--well, it's SUPPOSED to be baseball) is I have to attempt to go to sleep soon with all of these explosions around because I have to do it again tomorrow.

We spent the night out in the neighborhood with friends watching fireworks. Now we are sitting here listening to my scanner and the police/fire/EMS responding to all the usual 4th BS.

We were up by Big Sur for a couple days. Drove up the PCH right to where it's closed due to the massive fires in the Los Padres National Forest. Huge amounts of smoke drifting out over the ocean which gave the sunsets an otherworldy tint.
Otherwise we spent hours and hours watching two-ton Elephant Seals sparring on the beach (massive animals, colonies of seals playing around tide pools, and hiking through the redwoods.
