Default Paul's Monthly Picture Post - July

July is here already and I was determined to post at least some new pictures. I ran around the house looking for things that I haven't photographed a million times already and this is what I found.

One of the Kittehs was of course acting as my assistant.

And what would a 3rd of July post be without a fireworks shot. Have a great 4th everyone!

Just catching up on threads after my vacation.

WOW!

You made it hard to pick a favorite. I love 'em all.

Thanks, Paul.

The Firework shots are awesome and the close ups are always cool. Thanks for sharing.

I don't recall you ever posting pictures of people.

People have a tendency to pose for the camera, making the shot look artificial. Thus you end up with a bunch of Olin Mills.

And, I don't think you can legally photograph people w/o their consent.

Thanks guys.

I'm just not really a people photographer. Mostly because of the posing thing like Cynic said. The bigger the camera the more difficult it is to blend in and actually get natural shots of people.

What's the first one a picture of?

It looks like ball bearings, but why would you have so many...

Paul, I wouldn't totally rule it out though. A lot of journalists have made astounding pictures of people, posed or not.

Remember the picture of that green eyed afghan girl in the cover of Nat Geo?

Also, pictures don't have to have the full body involved.

It's harder to do artistic pics of people, but not impossible.

I completely agree. I have great respect for people who are capable of taking great portrait photos, and that cover shot is an amazing photo. My photo collection is not completely void of shots of people, it's just not my main focus (no pun intended). A majority of my shots with people are just candid shots that I don't feel are worth posting here, but I found a few that I really like.

They are actually 6mm spherical neodymium magnets. Because I'm a huge geek who has had an obsession with magnets since i was a kid.
I didn't get mine from here, but this will give you an idea of what you can do with 216 tiny round magnets besides take pictures of them.

I tend to really love your people photos...then again...they are usually of people I love or know anyway...so...I'm biased I guess!! 8)

Sidonia's picture is why I asked - I figured Paul took it. It is a great picture.

Cats are cool and can have a varied personality, despite what some say. Mine for example has not problem with me scratching and petting it, but he never comes to me for it. I have to walk up to him.

I hope it went to a home and not the kill shelter.

I wish my cat was friendlier, but he isn't. I know he had a hard life, because he is declawed and was abandoned to a home with 5-7 clawed cats. When I got him he was on the mend from an attack that put a serious wound on his neck.

He isn't mean, but he very much could not give a damn.
