Had a wonderful camping experience. I was in charge of entertainment and think I did an okay job. I arranged an orienteering course for them, guided a hike that led to a HUGE waterfall which we walked behind, completely soaking ourselves, arranged a guided tour of a cave that had 1,000 year old cave paintings by "native americans," and then had the different dens perform skits, do chants, sing songs by the campfire after it got dark (all while munching on smores, and no I didn't have any), finishing with a scary story told by me.
The boys had a blast, and stayed up both nights playing "cops and robbers," or ran around the grounds throwing rocks in the lake, etc. I can tell my 4-year old is going to love scouts as soon as he can get in (which will unfortunately be a few more years). He followed the big boys everywhere! Kept calling them "my boys." SO cute!
My daughter is quite the camper too. She was very helpful, and was every bit as tough and rugged as all those boys (if not moreso).
I can't wait to have kids and get them involved in scouting. You should get your daughter involved in Venturing, co-ed program of the BSA, if she is old enough, 13 I think.
