Today is the first clear and sunny day here in MI for several weeks. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I saw the sun. The only problem? It's 10 degrees w/-10 degree wind chill so I can't even enjoy it. When does Spring get here?
Oh, and if people like Roland, Gabe and Howard are going to pop in and say...hey, it's 75 degrees today where I live, I may even need to wear long pants..forget about it. I'm in no mood for your bullshit.

Count me in. It's actually been a pretty mild winter here. I think the worst part is the short days. Going to and from work in the dark just sucks.

I'm on your side, Jill. We are having the coldest, most bitter winter since I moved here five years ago. We're going to flirt with the positive side this week (Celsius positives ) and I hope it isn't a brief respite. I am quite tired of the 40-below wind chills we've been having.
My cats are even sick of winter. Every time I open the door, they run over to it to get a glimpse of the outside world. They yearn for the days of lounging around in an open window.
Here's my mom's cat keeping an eye on the chipmunk in the birdfeeder.
And here are my cats keeping an eye on the front door for me.
They do a good job.
Can you tell it's -40F wind chill today and I am bored?

Total agreement. The continual cold and dark gets really tiresome.

I'm officially sick of people who are officially sick of winter.
Actually, ditto for me. I can't wait to be able to ride my bikes outside again.
I must be in the same region where SwimBikeRun is. -40 with windchill, a high of 1 degree without today and the sound of the 50 mph gusts last night against the house made for a restless night's sleep. We got our first glimpse of the sun today for the first time in 7 days as well.
But, on the positive side, I got to the gym today and now get a full day inside with my kids. We just finished 60 minutes of horsing around, yelling, and general male rough-housing while watching 'The Sounds of the NFL' on TV. In 30 minutes, we're going to the basement to stage our own 'American Gladiator' where they try to run past me and I knock them around with a foam pad. I've gotten more kisses from them today than in a usual busy week. Loads of fun, all courtesy of us being inside because of the temps.
Short days = suck
Dark mornings = suck
Cold = suck
Windy = suck
Heavy Clothes = suck
Heating Bills = suck
Salty Roads = suck
Driving with the top up = suck
Staying indoors more frequently = suck
Winter = SUCK
Tonight, winds will gust to 40. Clear and cold with temps dropping to 8 degrees. Did I mention that sucks?

This morning was the first time in weeks that 30+ mph winds didn't wake me up early in the morning, but then it started blowing pretty good later on. Yesterday it was 45 to 65 mph all day long.
On the positive side, it's starting to get lighter in the east when I leave for work at 6:30, and most days I now need my sun glasses on the way home in the afternoon. Spring is coming.

Oh it sucks alright. My hands are damn near raw from working out in this shit. Climbing over mountains of snow, my pant legs freezing, no more place to put the snow on the side of the driveway (it's piled almost to my shoulders).... ugh! Spring! Where are you????

That's okay - you guys get to bitch during the Winter... we bitch during the Summer. Well, maybe not Roland. It's pleasant in So. California all the time.

I can't feel too sorry for you -- you live in beautiful Wyoming. I would tolerate brutal Winters to live in the Mtn West.

I spent a couple summer months at Ft. Gordon, just outside of Augusta, GA. Damn, it gets hot in the south and hot weather BDUs don't do shit. Biloxi Blues came to mind when I was down there and thinking back to it today.
I don't know if this was a motivational post, Mahler...but it was definitely motivated!

I'm not a fan of winter either!! Overall I can't complain toooo much though since it's been a pretty mild one (well, except for today - it's only about 6 out there!) Nevertheless, I'm still very ready for spring!
I want to go camping
I want to ride my motorcycle
I want to dig in the dirt
Although it is brutally cold today, tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer. The only problem is, weather.com says to expect 6 to 10 inches of snow. I am thinking of putting in a vacation request form. After all, even if we don't get that much snow, I doubt I will regret taking a day off.
It is -21 with wind chill today, I am still dealing with a 16" snow fall that finished last Thursday and they are predicting another 5-6" starting today and finishing Tuesday.
How can you not absolutely love this weather?

Yeah, it was 3 degrees on my drive in this morning with windchills between 15 and 20 below. Guess what happens in Detroit when it gets this cold? Potholes. HUGE and numerous potholes. We already have the country's worst roads, but when it gets this cold they become so bad it's comical.

May through October I can't think of anyplace I'd rather live. Even in the winter we get some nice days, and the sun shines 300 days a year. But the wind some days can literally drive you insane.
I visited my brother in Birmingham for a few days last August, I know it was hotter than normal, but it was absolutely miserable.

Potholes, we've got the same in Chicago. They're actually caused by the constant thawing and freezing cycle the midwest has had for the last few weeks. Temps hovering around freezing and precipitation that works its way into small cracks, freezes, expands and makes it all bigger.... rinse and repeat and you have a record pothole season.
It's gonna make for fun spring cycling for us midwest riders because a bad crack or pothole isn't just a threat for a messed up wheel but, rather, a fall and broken collarbone when you're riding a bike.
Ah well.... spring is right around the corner and all of this weather just means more time to get stronger in the gym for the upcoming riding season.

Same here in Ohio.....they can swallow a car whole!
It's 2 degrees today with who knows how many degrees below zero with wind chill. All schools closed, but work presses on! Tonight, still cold, and getting mucho snow. Grrr......I hate shoveling, especially in below zero weather.
