Default Pet Peeve - Jacket Vents

Totally random, so sorry for wasting a few seconds of your life but...

It amazes me how many people (typically women, but often men as well) don't cut the vents on their suit jackets and sport coats. Oy vey!

What's a jacket vent? Google Image Search doesn't help out much.

it is the opening at the back (or side) of a suit coat that lets the jacket move with you - but when you buy a new suit, the opening is often tacked closed with a few stiches and needs to be opened to hang and move right.

It's the slit up the back/center of a suit jacket. That's a single vent jacket. A double vent jacket has one on either side of the rear of the jacket.

this is a double vent jacket.

They are often lightly sewn down so they don't flip and get wrinkled during transport to the stores. And, it looks stupid if you don't remove the stitching.

Edit -- I'd say "jinx," but I'm three minutes behind...

They do that on pleated skirts too. Don't cut them and they stay perfect, just like plastic covers for fancy couches.
