Only because my LG CU500 got put through the wash. The Samsung was my previous phone. Can't say I'm too disappointed. The Samsung is really easy to text on, but I do have to turn it off and back on sometimes to make calls. I credit that to putting that one through the wash too and also heavily abusing it. I love it because it has taken a LOT of abuse - you can see scratches and dents all over the thing - and its still working.

I have the Blackberry Curve.....still figuring out all the features. It comes with a built in GPS and maps to find places, which is one of the features I have used.
First-generation "V" phone from Verizon: LG VX9800. The newer versions are lighter and more compact, but I'm holding out until next fall (my equipment renewal discount starts in May) to see the open-source handsets. For now, this is exactly what I wanted: a text-friendly mini-computer that wasn't a Treo or Blackberry--I'd be too easily addicted to those, though I may make one of those my next phone at the rate I'm going.

The Motorola Razr v3xx. Way more than I need to make a phone call other other day. But I do have the Who's "Baba O'Reilly" as a ring tone!

3 years and running. got it for free, has survived being droped in water, twice and it went through the washer once too. still works as good as new. im going to get a new one in the next few months, that upstage looks fancy..
Motorola W385 that Verizon gave me. My old LG started acting up one day so I threw it. Then I stepped on it a few dozen times. The 385 has much better reception, too.
Frank, I think we have almost the exact same phone. Here's mine:
Phone works fine. Lets me talk to people and send messages, which is all I need.

what is it that people look for in a cell phone? It looks to me that cell phone is no longer the correct word to use for this device People use this device as radio, mp3 player, camera.. may be more.
I love a simple mobile phone which can make and receives calls and yet be so light that I can hang around my neck like a jewelry pendant I get too many missed calls when my mobile stays in my purse
I'm generally SUPER picky about phones and go through them quickly. I'm very pleased with the Nokia N75. It takes trips into the toilet like a fish. Except this fish takes pictures. Good ones.

Reason: It has been brought to my attention that this implies I may take pictures of my toilet. Do I? I don't know, YOU decide.
I played with the iPhone, and it is gorgeous. The only issue I have is that it is rather large and seems super vulnerable. How does it stand up to abuse, Kaiser?

Swiminto: I was in Toronto a few weeks back and I had my iPhone with me - I guess I was flaunting Canadian law. LOL
I've only had it for a bit. Dropped it from chest high onto concrete once, but it was in it's hard lucite case. No problems. Now I have a small neoprene sleeve on it instead of the hard case - but I heard not to drop it hard for fear of the screen cracking.
Re largeness: I had the Razr before and love small phones that can easily slip in my pocket. This one is pretty slim (slimmer than the Razr), but larger footprint. Still, given the features (my favorite is the real time traffic map), I don't mind the tradeoff.
Normally I don't buy 1st gen technology. You know the next one is going to be much better and I was holding out for Apple's next one. But, as I said in another thread, this one was given to me. Can't refuse free, right?
Deserve, I too thought that the Blackberry was great, until I started to get the endless barrage of Office emails on it..WHERE EVER I am.
Exactly. I'm trying not to turn into that guy. You know. The guy who feels the pulse, sees a new message and is compelled to see who it's from even though he is witnessing the birth of his first child and it's most likely a Viagra ad that got through the spam filter.
