Default Cell Phone Help

Well, I washed DH's cell phone ... partly his fault for leaving it in his pocket, but partly my fault for not checking the pockets before I ran the wash ... sigh ...

So now he needs a new phone. We have been happy with our service and are not looking to change providers right now (we have Cingular ... errr ... AT&T Mobile). He is eligible for an upgrade on his phone (ie heavy discount).

We are considering a Samsung a737 or a Motorola RAZR V3 ... any opinions?

I tried using the online upgrade feature, but it was having problems, so I'll go into the store tomorrow ... so any other phone suggestions are welcome (but must be of reasonable price ... sure an iPhone would be great, but .... $$$$$$$$$!!!!!!)

Thanks!

FWIW (since I got it for free... didn't really want it) now three weeks later I absolutely love the iPhone. Unbelievably useful. And I had a Razr that I never used to do anything but make phone calls before - no texting, no e-mail, nothing but calls.

Otherwise, my Razr performed flawlessly and you can't complain about the size. Hell, I can sell you mine cheaper than getting a new one. I will say that the iPhone actually seems to have better connectivity than the Razr did - and the Razr was pretty good - I am pleasantly surprised because one of the knocks on the iPhone was its connectivity.

Seriously... see if you can swing the iPhone. Would be a hell of a holiday gift for the hubby.

A lot of people I know who have the RAZR hate it. They've had too many problems with it. I upgraded to a LG CU500 last time and loved that phone...until it got washed and died on me. It was great - mp3 player, internet, great call quality, etc. It got like a 8.3 out of 10 rating on cnet.com
