Default All Hail the King!!!

"KING DIAMOND has received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give me Your Soul… Please".

Commented the band's leader and namesake: "It's a great honor to be picked as a nominee; it's totally shocking and unexpected. We do feel as a band that this is the best album we have ever done. Hopefully there will be many more albums and tours to come. We feel that we have at least another good 10 years in us! This nomination is a testament to our legion of loyal fans and our thanks go out to them for the endless support and all of the kind words."
BLABBERMOUTH.NET - KING DIAMOND Comments On GRAMMY Nomination

As usual, they got the wrong song, but who cares, really? I think many of you would be surprised at how good - musical and intelligible - this band and album really are. Each album tells a different horror story. Essentially, they are musical horror movie soundtracks.

From the same album, the track "Mirror, Mirror":

I never knew King Diamond was around. I remember them from the 80's. Never got into the music though. I remember when Metallica got shafted at the Grammy's when Jethro Tull (or Iron Butterfly) won the award instead. That was a long time ago.... He's been around for 25 years, but he's never been a radio-friendly kinda guy. He alternates between the occasional growl and a creepy falsetto - often harmonizing with himself on the records. The music behind him is straight-forward heavy metal, with some very talented guitarists. But as far as I know he's never been on the cover of Rolling Stone or hosted his own MTV show, so most people don't know him.

I've never been a fan. I love metal but was never into his stuff. I'll take Iron Maiden instead.
