yes I am finally going to enter the year 2000 and get an ipod. I am either going to get the 80GB ipod or the new 16 GB flash ipod. BUT my primary usage will be music, I am not intrested in watching anything on it. so I think the flash, might be a step back, for me. I will use in my car (I will have a dock put it) and at home (will buy a dock).
I am not a big fan fan of earphones and don't use a "walkman" (i haven't since I first bought the Walkman 2 when it came out when I was in high school!!!
So bottom line - ipodites, which is better the new FLASH or the huge 80 GB?

Sounds like maybe just a Nano would work for what you want.

I didn't think I'd use the video much either. Then I got one at the urging of my wife and I love it. I've got the 5th gen. 30g video. I've got just shy of 600 songs and 4 movies on it right now and I've got waaaaay more room left.
I love the new generation of Nanos. I use mine for running (have the iPod Nike+ system) - so not only does it hold a ton of music, it tracks my run pace, mileage, and time, tells me how I'm doing, and has a nice little lady that tells me how my workout was. And they somehow fit Lance Armstrong in there too, and he comes out every now and then - I'm sure it's in between bike rides and fundraisers - to just urge me on. Oh, and it holds videos, which I haven't used yet, but may someday...

Having the video option is awesome. I bought one of those little units that hooks up to your TV, so you can download TV shows and movies, then watch them full screen. My wife and I are addicted to Lost, so if we miss an episode (no, I don't have Tivo) we can watch it anytime for a mere $1.99 with no commercials.
I'd absolutely go with the bigger one if you're going to be boxing all your originals + using it as a primary music player in your can and home stereo.
Rip stuff at a good quality the first time around so you don't have to do it again ;-).
You're using OS X right?
