All that's missing is a chair at the end of the table for the doctor, with catcher's glove, to sit on and await the arrival. Other than that it looks good to go.

In the case of a woman who has a fully developed muscular system and has had ample physical exertion all through the pregnancy, as is common with all more primitive peoples, nature provides all the necessary equipment and power to have a normal and quick delivery. This is not the case, however, with more civilized women who often do not have the opportunity to develop the muscles needed in confinement.
What a bunch of garbage! Sorry, I doubt you intended this seriously Cynic, but this just kinda offended me. First, I'm primitive and uncivilized because I have developed enough muscles to give birth? Oh please.
And being physically strong does NOT ensure a "quick" birth by any means! Maybe it improves the baby's health and/or your ability to recover after birth, but how long the birth will be remains a mystery. Every birth is unique.
And to answer your question, I did not opt for drugs during the birth of either of my children. I was in great shape for the first birth which lasted 18 hours and in mediocre shape for the second birth which lasted 12 hours. And if this machine had been available I would not have opted for its use either!
What a horrible-looking contraption!

Of course I didn't intend it seriously. I'd have to be pretty retarded to suggest this...I posted it a "look how far we've come since 1968" type humor piece.
I did not intend to offend.
NOTE: without looking at the date, I would have thought 1868 rather than 1968.
And as a retort, my mom says I was the biggest she had, but I gave her the least pain. That was for childbirth. I gave her years of grief afterwards, I wish I could go back and do it again with what I know now.
Like you would make her pain worse because you know better now how to inflict pain, if you could go back??
As far as the contraption is concerned, gravity is another force that really helps labor...so just stand up! Amazing...I think I want to patent that idea.

Wanna join me later in my cave for some club tosses?

you didn't read carefully enough - the net to catch the baby is included in the device - and the weight of the newborn flips a switch that stops the rotation
Quote:
When the fetus leaves the mother's vagina and lands on the cotton bed 97 in the net 88, its weight, as a result of the rotation of the machine, exerts a radial centrifugal force on the bottom of the elastic net 88. This force on the net 88 presses on the upright switch-out plate 93 causing the depression of the horizontal switch-out plate 94 and the switch-out button 95, which through a known conventional circuit arrangement (not shown) causes an electric switch in the control box 16 to stop the drive motor 15 and the rotation of the whole machine.

No doctor present? The health care industry will never let that fly. There has to be someone doing some billing.

Since I am too lazy to read the darn thing, someone please explain. Does it spin? Right there is my argument against. That has to be bad for a baby and I am sure I can find an expert to agree. That is probably an excuse for the man to be out of the delivery process.
The easiest deliver I was ever told about was from an overweight, jelly muscled woman I know. The birth was quick, easy and relatively painless. This woman can't walk a flight of stairs. Of course, I took this to mean that there was no rhyme or reason to the pain of delivery so I wasn't going to try some hokey methods.
My labors were never long than a few hours with only a maybe 15 minutes of pushing. I don't know how women handle it when the hours drag into double digits.
well it's probobly for the best, your primitive and uncivilized self would probobly have banged the club in my head and ... I don't even want to speculate
maybe it's time for me to actually read that link and contribute with something real to this thread.. :p

Unless you have something really really really unusual to tell us, I am not sure what you would have to contribute to a conversation on that device? :p

Any wisecrack is valid for a stupid device made by stupid people and considered for a patent by a stupid institution.
okay, I read it.. and I'm not entierly sure what to think.. Ok, centrifugal force, I know what that is, in biology we put these tubes into a centrifuge-machine (I have NO idea how to spell that) anways, it spun around really fast causing the particals in the liquid to fall to the bottom. Is that what we are gonna do to women to cause the baby to "fall to the bottom"? what the hell?

Yes! We have understanding!
I'm not trying to be insulting Karky, it's just funny.
And you spelled centrifuge correctly (I'm pretty sure that's what the machine is called), but you pooch screwed "entirely" and "particles."
