He apparently had a massive coronary when he was working out.

Sad.

He and his wife just had a baby two months ago.

That's sad. Someone so young and with a young family. Condolences to them.

Here's a link that will probably load faster, although there is little detail:

This is very sad. My condolences to his family.

i can't believe this. i was a frequenter of his board. Just yesterday or the day before, he posted what he was planning on doing yesterday for a workout, and said that he would film it and put it on his site. Something along the lines of lots of hang snatches, a few other oly movements, and some back squats (something like 500x8). He was in the processes of filming a documentary for his road to WSM 07'.

Crazy. His diet was probably the cleanest of ANY strongman competitor or strength athlete out there. He always preached eating a clean diet and such, and being in good condition, and also, of course, squatting more.

This is really sad, and really really shocking for me. I couldn't believe it when i read it, and thought it was a hoax. I feel really sorry for his family. He had a HUGE amount of potential at such a young age, and surely would have been a multiple WSM champion.

Glad you responded. I know you're a big fan of his, and I was going to PM you with the article.

It is a major bummer, and I'll be interested to hear more details as they are made public.

yea, i appreciate people posting this, and the fact that this thread has stayed positive, as well as all the other threads i've read online on the matter. It's what the family needs right now.

Here's some info from the anvil that ben moore posted over at elite.

From The Anvil:

A memorial fund will be set up for JJ and Dawson. For now, cards and flowers can be sent to Drennan & Ford Funeral Home and Crematory
260 Monroe Rd.
Port Angeles, Washington 98362

Memorial Fund

For those of you that are wanting to make contributions to the Marunde Family, you can make them through Jesse's Forum via the paypal site. Sarge is going to be getting the site back on-line, and contributions can then be made for the family. Please keep the Marunde family in your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, Sarge and myself both feel that monetary contributions will be much appreciated by the family.

NAS and ASC will be getting shirts made to sell at the contests, and all contributions from the t-shirt sales will be given to the Marunde family.

This is so tragic. So much life yet to live. He seemed like a man who knew what his goals were and set out to pursue them. My heart goes out to his wife and children and all his many, many fans.

Firstly my sincere condolences to his family.

What's the odds we get a backlash against his lifestyle? When the reality is that without his lifestyle he would probably have died all the sooner and having enjoyed his life less.

I read he had a pre-existing heart condition.

Wow, I just caught this. It's sad.

It goes to show the fragile nature of life.

Life is too short to not have fun and enjoy the people around you (including people here), to treat them well and appreciate the opportunity we have to interact with them, to learn and grow from them. And, to appreciate the wonderful things we can do with our bodies.

For those of you that can, please go to jesse's site, and leave a few words for his friends and family.

I'm planning on posting this in the main forum as well since it gets more traffic.
