What do you think about FREE COUNTERS for websites???
I just signed up for StatCounter and it seems ok to to me so far. No ads and there's even a forum about their product so, if they sucked or were screwing with people, they'd either have to make up/create all their own posts or it would be full of pissed off people!
a friend of mine recommended it to me. I used it for awhile. It seems like a pretty nifty little tool.

Why use that site when Google analytics is so much better?
Why would I ask the question if I knew all the answers ahead of time? Tell me WHY it's so much better!
Anyway, thanks for the tip, I'm checking that one out now! I use Google a lot, including gmail, but their website for this product is kinda weird. They put "Common Questions" links on the right side of the screen but, when you click on them, the pop up says:
We're sorry, but the information you've requested cannot be found. Please try searching or browsing the Help Center.
I'll keep checking it out. Any other feedback would be appreciated!
I've been using Google Analytics for my personal website and also my business and I really like it. It gives me quite a bit of depth of information. There is a piece of code that you need to put on all of your pages, but overall a very thorough analytics package that tracks just about anything you want.
If you're running a blog, Feedburner has a good free package also that tracks visitors, etc.

Well, I changed out the counter to Analytics and, based on the few minutes that I've been looking into this, it does look really cool. I couldn't tell that it was invisible to the user until it was installed but that's perfectly fine. I don't really care if anyone else sees it, I just wanted the feedback for my purposes. THANKS FOR THE TIP!!!
By the way, in the agreement, it defines "Account" (yes, I did skim that), it mentioned something about payment, as I recall. Since it asked for no CC#, I figured I was in the clear.
Have used it for my site for 2+ years...gives geat stats, and never annoying e-mails (which statcounter will do in 2 months time!).
Ah, crap, now I've got another to look into! Oh, well, at least I know where to look later if I want to revisit the recommendations! Statcounter is gone now.
I gotta be careful with my posts. I'm almost at the 4,000 mark!!! Surely I can be talking about something more interesting than counters at the big 4K!
I use Google Anayltics. I love the tools they have. Sometimes when I'm bored I look at the map and see what cities people are visiting me from and things like that...
Analytics doesn't cost anything, so I don't know what they mean by payment in the agreement. Still a very nice tool. Also, some hosting services have free built-in tools in their user accounts. I use 2mhost for my domain and there are several free tools and counters.

The payment thing may be for another google service... everything you do with google is one account... analytics, docs, gmail, and google checkout. So... it may just be their standard op in case you expand your account to be something you pay for or pay with or what not. *shrug*

just a guess...
Probably, they use a generic disclaimer for all of their services, is my guess.
