It's always interesting to hear instrumental renditions of songs that had lyrics in them.

Tommy Emmanuel did a version of House of the Rising Sun that is pretty damn cool. The recorded version is better, imo though. It's kinda like that but he does sing in it too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIWSVTaytOw

That sounds cool. The stuff that guy is doing actually isn't that hard. It's one of those things that guitarists know just takes a bit of practice. Kinda like solos where you're tremolo picking on an open string and throwing in a few notes running down it or EVH's finger tapping in the intro to Hot For Teacher.

Reminds me of Leo Kottke or Stanley Jordan, both whom I have seen live, met in person.

Jordan is the most unbelievable genius on the guitar I have ever seen. I don't think he has a normal brain.

Ya, Kottke and Dykes both remind me of the Chet Atkins vein. Both great players.

Jordan has some really cool songs. His version of Stairway to Heaven is really touching.

As I typeing im listening to a live version of Ocean it goes for ~10mins.
I saw him play it live last year for about 15 mins, i was in awe the whole time. (I just got the shivers thinking about it)

The guy who teaches my 6 year old classical guitar has some international reknown. Check out his strumming hand (starts about 50 secs in and a nice close-up at 2 mins in) in the first vid.

Also, our own JP can play just about as well. Severely impressive for someone who is self-taught!!

one of my favorites has been removed from youtube for "use violations" - it was a solo acoustic performance of "1967" by Adrian Belew. I can't find it anywhere else though.

Lindsey Buckingham is a prick, but I really admire his playing. This song always impressed me because he really has three different rhythms going -- two on the guitar and one for the vocals. Guys that could sing and play at the same time always impressed me most.
