Default Time to RANT

So here we are, just about into june and I have finally been contacted for an interview for a summer position with an oil company. Not necessarily doing what I want to be doing, but it's IT within their exploration division.

Better than nothing and slightly more relevant than my current IT position.

I was supposed to go for an interview tomorrow. But they contacted me and told me that their IT guy wants to sit in as well and is away till June 11. WTF.

So now even if it does go well and they DO hire me I am looking at a pretty damn close to July start date.

2 months. Where does that leave my current boss? screwed for a summer person most likely. Where would that leave me for a job while I am going to school? Screwed probably.

Will the 2 months give me enough money to not work over school? unlikely.

In the end I will go for the interview, but in the end I am strongly considering not taking the job.

Companies need to get their shit in order. I have always hated the hiring process. When your working things taking a couple to three weeks is nothing. When you are looking for work, or unemployed 3 weeks is a lifetime.

Maybe you should be trying for their IT guy's job.

Look here I am ranting again.

So they e-mail me back and say that the Monday they said was a go is no longer a go and want me to come in on Tuesday at 1 or 4.

WTF. I have a damn job you no minds. How far backwards do they want me to bend to accomodate them? Sure they have a job they may give me. But it's a 3 month contract for the summer and 1 of those months is gone.

I have not replied yet cause I want to tell them where they can stuff their lousy fing job.

FUCK.

FUCK.
Instead, you should say something like:
"Waiting until July to begin work at your company would not only be unfair to my current employer, but would also require that I seek employment again once the school year begins. Thank you very much for your consideration."

These kinds of decisions are never easy. You'll do the best thing for Og, no doubt. (and I know you would ultimately say something even better than my suggestion!)
