Default Attn: Little Rockers

Side note: Is that what y'all're really called? Little Rockers?

Main note: A nursing student friend of mine has heard some good things about the health care and fitness environment in Arkansas and wants to know more about the university nursing programs and general standard of living out there, namely in Little Rock. Obviously, there's Google and the cliche "visit/live in Little Rock" sites, but I'm more interested in insider opinions on the matter. Thanks in advance for comments, links, etc, either here or privately.

Little Rockers

The Medical School in Little Rock (UAMS) has a good (from what I hear)nursing program also there is a diploma RN program through Baptist Health. There are 5 hospitals within a few miles of each other along the I 6-30 corridor, one a children's hospital and one the teaching hospital and several more in the metro area. I don't think there is a shortage of nursing jobs. I have heard some grumbling from transplants about the state and property tax situation here but... The cost of living is lower than many areas of the country not to mention that LR is a "city" with a "town" quality, big enough for nice amenities, small enough to be warm, and close to outdoor adventure of all types. Oh, and the people are generally nice. What the actual hospital working conditions are, I could not tell you. UAMS being a teaching hospital means there are positions available in research versus patient care if that is something your friend is interested in or may be interested in for the future

I obviously have no information on the topic at hand. I'm just simply in awe of the use of "y'all're" ....

Wow, thanks Rob. Nice you see you have the ability to kill a thread before it starts (kudos to ODBG for getting in there before he did)
