Years ago I remember people saying that wearing your cell phone on your belt or in your pocket fries sperm (for males anyway) and talking on it fries some neurons or something. Was that ever proven?
My question is about using my phone as an alarm. I have it sitting on the bedside table each night and its sitting about 1-2ft from my head for 10hrs at a time. Been doing this for years.
Is this potentially bad?
Started thinking about it the other night and got alittle worried.
I stopped carrying my cell phone in my pocket long ago because of that fact, but there have been studies linking the RF of cell phones to the break down of DNA in rat brains (i have no idea is that would have the same effects on us), leading to brain tumors and pre-mature senality....my suggestion decrease exposure as much as possible and shell out a few bucks and get an alarm clock..they're not that expensive

if you stopped carrying your cell phone in your pocket, where do you carry it?

usually in my school bag, or i have a belt clip, i know the belt clip wont help much....but i don't stress it too much, its simply impossible to get away from cell phones nowadays
i think the risk is minimum..... i dunno. I just don't see how using a cell phone is different than using a cordless phone in your house... or the remote control for your tv, or even using the microwave. They all give off radiation, but you don't see ppl walking around w/ 2 heads.
Thats true, i think most of us are overstressing the situation...besides that rat study there really isn't any signigificant evidence on the harmful effects of increased cell phone exposure...besides if we started to worry about every type of radiation we come into contact with daily...to quote beach head we would have to live in bubbles
Don't know about the pocket thing, but cell phone radiation definitely affects the brain. It causes people to drive like idiots.

You can buy these little stickers to put on electrical goods to stop radiation. A friend of mine has one on his phone, one on his laptop, one on his.....
When I took nuclear physics lab in college, we had an obligatory safety brief at the beginning of the course. The prof went out of his way to emphasize that the dosimeter only records exposure, it doesn't protect you. "The radiation badge will not save you," he warned. So from then on we referred to them as our radiation shield.
