Default In case you've never been there...

There are no words or pictures that can adequately express the magnitude and magnificance of the Grand Canyon. These were taken at sunset from an isolated point a few miles east of the Village.

The first couple pics were taken from out on the the end of the point on the right side of that last pic. We were anxious to get off of there before it got too dark.

Carlsbad Cavern is also worth the trip. Unfortunately I didn't have a stand or tripod for my camera, and due to the long exposure time on many of the photos they appear fuzzy and unfocused. Pretty hard to hold a camera perfectly still for that long. This one was pretty good, though.

Great pics. I've never been there but my kids went a few years ago with their grandparents. I've got to make that trip. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. That's simply amazing!

I hope to get there sometime in the near future.

Did you get to go to the see-through bridge? Pics?

We're going to look at doing the North Rim next trip, that would be closer to us if we went directly from here. This was our first trip and we were coming up from Carlsbad, so South Rim made more sense. We want to hike into the canyon and are looking at the North Kaibab trail as one option. We weren't prepared for any real hiking this trip, we just wanted to see it and start planning for a real trip in the future.

It's a couple hundred mile drive around to the North Rim, or to West Canyon where the bridge is. Too far in the limited time we had, and the North Rim isn't open until mid-May anyway.

No bridge, sorry. I ain't paying $300 to walk out on that, even if it was close by.

Hmm, unless I could charge for the pics. Now there's a thought...

It's just not right, dammit. Mid to upper 80s in southern New Mexico, then we all got sunburned on our shiny white legs at the Grand Canyon. Then 80s again crossing northeast Arizona. Speaking of which, Monument Valley is another one of those things you just have to see in person to appreciate:

Now back in Cheyenne it's 18 with a freezing fog and snow. These are some pine trees covered in frost in my backyard.
