The guy who horded McDonald's for a month, gained weight and his health deteriorated.
Keep in mind another person did the same thing, and lost weight and improved his health.

??? I never heard about this part. I assume the person was extremely overweight?????
Someone made a film to counter the Supersize me movie. It was only available on the net (I'll see if I can find it.)
In Supersize Me, the guy pigged out for a month. In the other movie, the guy ate more rationally.

OK, I found it - Bowling For Morgan.. This is the movie where this guy eats nothing but McDonald's for 30 days and loses weight and improves his health, completely dispelling the Supersize Me movie. You can watch it for free at http://www.bowlingformorgan.com/

But Morgan was eating the way many americans do. Who the fuck goes into McDondalds for their amazing grilled chicken sandwiches and salads?
Spurlock went into the project with a set goal in mind and succeeded (Shocking)
Scott Caswell did the exact opposite with again a set goal in mind.
No Mcdonalds is not good for you. But they obviously have enough less bad stuff on their menu to make eating there somewhat of a possibility.
That being said, Spurlocks film showing the evils of mcdonalds is a farce.
Certainly people go and eat there and not in moderation and sure maybe some of them eat there everyday, and HECK maybe some do it eveymeal, but I doubt the average american does.
As you can tell I hated "Super SIze Me". I felt it was a sensationalistic piece of crap masquerading as a well researched piece of journalism.
Also Scott Casewell isn't the only guy to go on a 30 day diet and eat only Mcdonalds and lose weight.
Og.
No I am not a fan of McDs, I just hated the film.

The point in Supersize me is that McDonald's is making Americans fat.
The point in Bowling for Morgan is that it is people's food choices that are making them fat.
It had been pointed out that Supersize Me was made in a very similar fasion to Fahrenheit 911. Hence Caswell decided to use the title "Bowling for ...."
My own opinion? The abundance and convenience of fast food restaurants in the US has certainly contributed to Americans getting fatter. However, it is not the restaurant's fault. The blame lies on what a person decides to put into his/her mouth.
Fast food restaurants have done better recently, offereing some healthier menu items. At the same time, they have mislead consumers with false ideas, such as saying that their food will be healthier by changing the type of grease used in their fryers.

Spurlock's film wasn't about McDonald's making Americans fat. It was about making Spurlock famous. Americans may be fat but I doubt what Spurlock did is representative of the population. I think Caswell showed that in his film.

Bingo. Dead on.
Supersize Me! was a nice bit of entertainment, but not serious journalism.

I can agree with this. I liked Supersize Me but I don't think people should sue fast food companies for making them fat. But of course, some of the change for the better (real and perceived) in fast food menu's was in reaction to Supersize Me so I think it did some good.
One thing about Casewell in his movie was that he was in crappy health at the start of the film. Weighing 241 lbs with that gut (he's gotta be around 30% bf) and poor liver health (partly from drinking so much), being able to eat just McDonald's for a month and improving his health isn't a surprise.
I think the moral of both stories is to obey the Greek saying: Nothing in excess.
