There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit. ~Al Gallagher, 1971
It's kind of interesting...I believe that video was used to promote his new Nike Driver during the British Open last year which he won by pretty much leaving the driving in the bag...
The symmetry is just amazing. It's a text book swing - the modern version. Great to watch and study...

I can't figure out why my company's filter blocked it as "pornography". Someone's just bitter, I guess. :p

They'll be studying that swing for generations. It's too bad we don't have footage like that of guys like Byron Nelson or Ben Hogan.
And Tiger is such an athlete! He's in amazing shape I've read. One article where the guy was interviewing him right after he worked out said he's built more like a DB in the NFL than a golfer.

I showed that to my son last night, who is starting to become a pretty good golfer. He watched and said "I can't do that." I told him to keep watching and learn from it. And to use Hartman's golf dvd to get that kind of flexibility.
I saw him in his room later trying to mimic the positions of the swing.

Cool story. Tiger's strength plus his flexibility is amazing. Focus on a couple things - the position of the club as it goes back and through (perfect), the shoulder turn especially during the backswing (read:power & distance) and the follow through...look how his belt-buckle points right at the target. A lot to be learned.
My favorite this is right at the top of the backswing...the postion of the club is absolutely picture perfect. Then as he moves back down towards the ball - watch how his whole body drops a little as his weight moves forward...an incredible amount of power generated with incredible balance.
As you can tell, I'm quite a fan of Tiger & his swing.
If your son really gets into golf and maybe wants to take some lessons, there are places that will video tape his swing then compare it with a professional with similar build. That's something that people don't realize when they're trying to mimic a swing is the body-type of the pro. Many people have studied Hogan's swing - there is a very popular book that Hogan wrote "5 Lessons..." but he was like 5'-6" and I'm like 6'-4" so it wasn't much help to me. So this video lesson will take your body type (height/weight) and playback right next to a pro's...it's pretty cool.

Well right now he's more in John Daly shape than in Tiger shape.
What I like about the swing is his lower body is so quiet but you can see all the tension he's built up in the backswing. Then he just unleashes the power from his legs.
I think Hogan's 5 Lessons is the best book ever written on the golf swing. I read it every year before the season begins as a refresher.
I may get my son some lessons this year. He's a big kid and hits it a loing way. He needs to work on accuracy and course management but he can get real good if he does.

K, probably because it's hosted on metcafe, which does have some adult content.
That is a great swing. No doubt about that.
Thanks, JP. Makes sense.

Lessons are a good idea...he needs to slow his swing down so it's more accurate. I had/have the same issue. When you make more solid contact the ball tends to go just as far but it's far more accurate.
