For the past several months, Upstate South Carolina has been abuzz with George Clooney sightings. He's planning on shooting a movie called Leatherheads in the Upstate. It's about a 1920s football team. There have been casting calls for extras and stuff but the news has just gotten bigger. They may be shooting in my little downtown of Greer. This three-block area looks like Mayberry. My office is right on the main street. This could be very, very cool.
I know this may not seem like a big thing for you folks in NY, LA, Chitown or Little Rock, but it's a big deal here.
That's pretty cool. They are always filming something near where I work (Brooklyn Bridge area) and I try to get out to watch it sometimes. It's fun to watch. Enjoy it.

haha yeah i heard about that a few months ago howard - i was going to try to drive down and meet my husband to be (george clooney) but just figured when we're in italy over the summer i'll stop by lake como and meet him
I'm not a real fan of Clooney's -- particularly his politics. Although I think he's talented, I think he takes himself too seriously. That said, it's exciting that a major motion picture may be filmed outside the front door of my little office building in my little town.
The movie Grosse Pointe Blank with John Cusack was filmed while I lived in Grosse Pointe, Michigan but most of it was filmed elsewhere. The area that was supposed to be downtown Grosse Pointe was some other downtown. My high school, Grosse Pointe High, was some other high school. So, we missed out on all the fun.

That kind of stuff is fun and I am not even the star struck type. We had a film made while I worked here at the capitol in Little Rock. It was Daddy and Them with Andy Griffith, Laura Dern, her mom and Billy Bob Thornton I think.
Come to think of it, I still need to see that movie.
you really think george takes himself too seriously? i dunno... i guess living w/ a pot bellied pig and playing all the practical jokes on set makes me think he doesn't, but i'm also slightly biased

He seems like a nice guy and a good actor. I know he's funny and likes to play basketball on the set of his films. It's when I see him on TV talking politics that I feel he's taking himself too seriously. He's an actor...stick to making films. I think much of Hollywood takes itself too seriously in the political arena.
