Default Working...

So, who else is working on MLK Day? I seem to remember having a lot more holidays, and now it seems like most of the days when the post office and state and feds have off, I'm still working.

I'm working. My company has a few standard holidays, plus they give us 2-3 optional days, to use as we like, each year.

I had more days off when I worked for a University. Govt affiliated workers get more days (but they never thank the rest of us...).

Working today too. I just received the holiday list for this year. 8 holidays, my next one is May 28th, Memorial Day.

I see a few "sick" days coming up between now and then.

I'm here. It's an official company holiday but where I'm consulting it's not.

Working. This is a floating holiday (optional) for my company, so I chose to work today and take a day off sometime later.

A colleague asked me last week if we could take floating holidays in advance. I told her of course, and that in February I was planning on taking off the day after Thanksgiving. It took her a while but I think she eventually laughed.

I'm at work.

My sister works for an accounting firm and they aren't allowed to work today. This is the only day of the year where there building is completely locked up. So you can work on Christmas but not MLK day. I think it has something to do with being started by minority women. But I'm not sure.

I work for a bank, so I'm off. Unfortunately, we've been getting ice for the past three days, and right now it's snowing, so there's no way I'm getting out of the house without taking my life in my hands. Not much of a holiday, if you ask me.

Our plant is open today but they do give us some floating holiday's. So at Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day we get two days off instead of just the one. Those are much better times of year to have Holiday's anyway...all I would be doing today would be cleaning up snow anyway...I'll be doing that when I get home from work...FUN!

Working today?!?!? I just got up!

Yes, I work for the State.

Actually, I got up about 9:00, Mrs. Q made breakfast, I walked the dogs... and here I am. My life in a nutshell. Gyms are all closed but I have few things I can do right here.

I'm working today, well today's a "travel day" so I got to get up bright and early- sleep through two alarms and almost miss my flight here to dallas. Since it's a travel day and no one else is in yet (they all booked themselves on late afternoon flights) i'm going to go to the mall (the only place the shuttle will take me) and wander around some.

I used to think it was worse in workaholic Japan but honestly they have more and longer holidays.

We're the crazy ones.

I'm working today. When I worked in financial services I'd have a lot more holidays, since the market closes during almost any holiday.

Southridge, Director of Operations for the center. The Gap is always a good guess though.

Off for my normal job (state employee) but working for one of my clients today. They bought a nice shiny new Dell server and I'm sitting here loading the rest of the software on it so I can let it update while I go swim. I've already dropped in 8 new workstations, a printer and a scanner.

Wish I could have stayed home but this is pretty easy money, it will pay for that new fish I've been eying.

Working for the gov't is ok IF you can take your time off. I get 12 holidays plus 3 weeks of vacation. I don't touch it and end up rolling it over to sick leave. I'll be able to retire a year in advance the way I'm going. :P

We don't get to keep our SL. If you don't use it, you lose it. Of course, people get "sick" a lot more frequently when they are close to retiring if they have a lot built up.
