Hi guys, I just realized that my work computer has been wiped of all games (by games i simply mean solitaire) and considering i spend a good amount of time waiting on flights i'd love to be able to use my computer to play games. i tried messing w/ the settings so i could have the games back but it has been blocked. do any of you have suggestions for websites where i can download free games that are safe? (i really don't want to end up w/ a virus)
I spend a lot of time playing stupid games on "www.addictinggames.com"
Og.

yep it's a work computer, but they said i can download whatever i want onto it (why then, did they take solitaire off i dunno). i'd like to download some though that i can play without having to connect to the internet.
Search the machine for sol.exe, if it's there then run it - that is the solitaire executable. Lots of IT goons will simply remove the games from the programs menu and be done with it (*cough* thomas *cough*).
You could also copy the sol.exe file from another computer and save it to your My Documents folder, it should run there. If you can't find this file lemme know, I'll hook you up.
thanks cast! i'll try that in the next few days and let you know what happens (i get to be home for the weekend, which is great but the 2 days fly by- i'll try it when i'm bored in texas) thanks redwifey! hahaha not like THAT gr!! thanks cynic!
Go to Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Click Add/Remove Windows Components. Select Accessories and Utilities. Check the Box next to Games. Click OK, Next and select the rest of defaults. That will install the Windows games.

i tried that, and they blocked me from doing that. why, i still don't know- because tech support said to dload whatever i want to yet the basics were removed. oh well!

If you don't have admin rights you can't add/remove, all of the machines I admin are like that also.
There are some games that you can run from just the executable that don't require you to install anything, just click on an icon.
If you have another PC, I think you can just copy sol.exe onto a diskette or USB drive and put it on your pc. I don't think it needs to be installed. Just double click it and it will play. I think.
hmm.... i didn't copy them from my other computer onto my jump drive this weekend - i forgot. oh well, i've got enough ironing and stuff to kill my day.
