Haven't read all the pages to this thread but I just saw Shooter. The Mark Wahlberg movie. Ranked right up there for me. Lets hope he does some more acting and less directing.

Just finished watching "For Your Consideration," which is from the same people who did Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind.

VERY funny movie and it basically takes a jab at Hollywood in general, those pricks....:p

I'm a big fan of Christopher Nolan's movies. The Following was a very good movie and Memento put him over the top. It's good to see him moving back into more unusual plots and away from bigger budget movies (Batman, Insomnia).

Anything by Scorcese is great. I just watched Mean Streets the other day. Taxi Driver is one of my favorites by him, and Departed was unbelievably good, and instantly became one of my favorite movies. Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Raging Bull.. the list just goes on and on.

Finished Stranger Than Fiction and Children of Men this week. Very different films, obviously, but both very good.

I'd have to give the nod to Stranger, and RW would do the same. It was just so original and fun. Children was good, but it was more about atmosphere and subtext than real story. That's fine and all, but not what I expected. It's a shame how inaccurate expectations can damper one's perspective.

I loved Stranger Than Fiction. The scene on the articulate bus was so, so good. There were so many subtleties in that movie that really hit home for me. I watched it two nights in a row.

I saw The Illusionist 3 times this past weekend. That movie was damn good, and that good. Totally surprised me and had me thinking that the antagonist was just a cynic.

Oh and I love Jessica Biel, she rocks my socks

Agreed, on all counts.

Watched Fearless last night, Jet Li's latest. Meh. On paper the plot is good, and it's got some real history in there... but it was missing something. There were no terrific set pieces, like Crouching Tiger or Hero had, and the drama just didn't work that well for me. It was OK, but not memorable.

Fearless was cool for a little bit, but they did miss out a little bit. I think the reason is because they really didnt pimp up his confrontation with his past and I feel they rushed his relationship with the Japanese man. I think for most of us in western culture, the love between the village girl and him wasnt emphasized either and we tend to value that as well as the stuff I mentioned above.

I keep watching movies, so I'm gonna keep posting.

RW had a meeting at church tonight, so after getting the kids to bed I watched Fresh, a 1994 film about drugs and violence in urban America. Tough to watch, but really an incredible movie. Solid screenplay, great acting, and perfect editing for the tone of the film.

I saw myself in the lead character (and we share the same name). Fascinating experience to see a world that I'm not part of, not because I'm above it, but because I was born middle-class and white. If I was born where Fresh was, would I have the courage, intelligence and tenacity to do what he did? Probably not.

We watched The Queen last weekend, and it was pretty good. I gave it a B- (a little slow), but it was VERY interesting to see the dynamic between The Queen and Tony Blair during that week Princess Diana died. And holy smokes, the Royal Family are a bunch of emotionaless bastards! I can say this because I have a client who is fromt he UK and those are his words....haha.

Good movie, albeit a bit over rated IMO.

Going to watch Little Children this weekend. Wanted to see this when it came out in theaters this past winter. Just came out on dvd this week.

I just got back from seeing spiderman 3. The special effects were awesome. Some of the effects are just amazing, like the scenes w/ sandman. I think this is one of the pluses to making the movie now, as opposed to 10 years ago, where the effects are so good now, that they won't look aged in 10 years, as they would have if it was made 10 years ago, and you look at them today. Bruce Cambell was awesome in the movie, and the audience got a huge kick out of his role. Stan Lee also made a camio in the movie.

I think they put too much stuff in the story though, and had so many plot lines. If i were to direct this, coming from a comic nerd, i would have made it into 2 movies. One focusing on Spiderman and the symbiote, and the changes that it would bring to him as a person, and him getting rid of it at the end, and the next movie, i would have revolve around venom, and spiderman, and the turmoil between the two of them.

There were a few plot holes in the movie. Like why did sandman do all the destruction he did, and try and kill spiderman throughout the movie? It's briefly touched on towards the end, but still had me scratching my head at the end. Kind of a pointless villian, and i think it would have been cooler if they would have done the 2 movies, like i said, and have venom and the lizard in it instead of sandman.

The ending was pretty open, and didn't have closure to it like the first two did. There were a lot of cheesy lines towards the end that should have been omitted. It seems like Ramini directed this movie w/ a bigger sense of humor than his previous efforts.

But overall, it was a very enjoyable movie. Pretty long. I went to the 12:04 showing, and didn't get out of there until 2:45 or so. I'd give it a B.

I second that review, Amy. Bleeecccch.

I'm pretty sure there are subliminal "join the army, be all that you can be" ads in the Spidey in front of Old Glory sequence.

I stuck in Last king of scotland from netflix last night, and 12 minutes into it, it started skipping. It has a huge dent in it? How does this happen in a week's time?!

My buddy and I just came back from Spiderman, and we both liked it, actually. There's a LOT of plot development, and some silliness thrown in that didn't quite work, IMO, but overall I was happy, and I'm looking forward to part 4.

When in doubt, Rotten Tomatoes:
