Lightbulb Christmas gifts for S/O's

Hey all... this place is becoming a mecca of relationship advice!

I've been trying to come up with a x-mas gift for the girlfriend for over a month now, and i'm stuck... I've come up with a few great ideas, and she's found a way to "ruin" them on me. I was going to get her an MP3 player (she's been talking about getting one for months), but then she asked her parents for it. I was going to get us a couples massage, but then she mentioned the other day that we should do that for x-mas. I really want to surprise her with something.

What are you guys doing (assuming you S/O) doesn't know about this site, or what have you done in the past? We're a young relationship (8 months or so)... any ideas would be great!

Thanks!

How about a watch? Fossile makes some nice stuff, and I think shipping is free right now.

i never understood why people have a diffifcult time getting gifts for s/o's. You just have to listen to them, and when they mention they like something, or a song, get them that cd, and that's one gift, etc etc.

parents are much harder to buy for.

You buy your dad a bad gift and it means a bad gift for you next year.

You buy your girlfriend a bad gift, and you arn't getting any for the next year

I hear ya, I keep stuff on a list whenever we are out and she mentions, "oh thats cool, but I don't want to spend the money." and those are usually my gifts.

My parents though, they buy anything they want when they see it. They are really tough to buy for.

RedWifey says:

For Red's parents this year we are sending Omaha Steaks b/c they need NOTHING else to junk up the house and we are trying to encourage healthy lifestyle.

Red is the one that's hard to buy for...I got his list, which he got everything on it, but I would like to have a suprise for him, too. But I am all out of ideas! His only suprise may be his stocking stuffers.

What about a wireless head -piece-ear-thing-a-ma-do for her cell phone? Not very romantic, but if you were looking at an iPod it's along the same lines.

Does she like video games? Red has the GameCube and ages ago we used to play Mario Golf together to get out of a rut. Now he's playing Hulk...by himself!

Good luck!

for me, i'm usually great at this, but as i already mentioned... every gift idea i came up with she found a way to ruin by asking someone else for it, or proposing it herself!

you have to think harder. stop thinking of the things that are obvious, and pick up on the small mentioned things she liked.

or, underware.

Really? I thought it would be easy since a kid should obviously know their parents well, but maybe it's harder for most of you since you've lived away from them for a long time and aren't as caught up on their current interests or possessions.

either the right size or a size smaller than what you THINK. yeah they might not fit but in our heads it's what we think you think we look like. if we need to exchange them we will, but at least we'll feel good about ourselves. stupid, i know, but i've seen lots of bf's screw up with my friends, and my real dad and step dad both couldn't understand this philosophy and ended up with wives who were less than thrilled with size medium instead of small stuff from vickie's.
