Default Dangit -- the drama never ends

So I was at Julian's funeral today (the boy shot in a gang-related drive-by last Tuesday... read my blog for details) and a freakin' fight breaks out. At a funeral.

Julian's mom showed up unannounced from Michigan, with her new husband. They both abused Julian in pretty terrible ways until he was 13 years old, which is why he escaped down to Houston to live with his dad three years ago. Julian's dad saw those two show up and asked them not to come in, and the rest is the 10 o'clock news. One friend even told me she saw the story on CNN.

Of course, I was standing at the casket when the fight broke out, so I was right there the whole time, and almost ran in to break it up, but it didn't feel right this time so I stayed out of it.

You guys don't want me to come to the summit next year... it will only invite trouble.

That's really terrible. Can't people show some dignity at a time like that. Man ....

Sorry to hear about that RedLefty. Very nice of you to go to the funeral and help support the family. Assuming I get to go to the summit, I wouldn't be afraid to hang out with you.

I understand where the dad's coming from, though... wouldn't want those assholes at my son's funeral, either.

Man, while that's freaking unbelieveable, I believe Julian's father was certainly justified.

seriously, right? any person who can abuse their own child and allow a stranger to do the same loses all right to pay their last respects, IMO. They don't deserve to come with 100 yards of the kid, alive or not.
