Serious and most important news first – Colonel (Alan) let us know that his wife passed away. You can read his comments here. I ask that before you move on to the jokes, please take a moment of silence for Alan and his family in their experience of loss, and take a moment for yourself to reflect on the people you love. Make sure they know it.
Thank you. On to the funnies. The theme this week is inspirational posters (as in the kind you hang on the wall, not the kind you hang out with in the virtual world).
Red’s Weekly ReCrap – Week ending November 9, 2006
1. Danny (DKing) announced that in the next 18 months he will be taking a job with Brian Grasso in Chicago, to the lament of JP, Alwyn Cosgrove and many other trainers and managers. Way to go, Danny! This item’s recrap word? Dedication.
2. Lost Dog showed some creativity in the Recipe forum with the revelation that he made protein pudding pops in his freezer – Bill Cosby would be so proud! This item’s recrap word: Genius.
3. John Izzo posted an article by Mike Boyle that made the excellent distinction between the difficulty of training an athlete and training the average Joe. Even if you’re not a personal trainer you can recognize the wisdom of the article. This item’s recrap word: Truth.
4. Iamjennmedic used her training log to share that she is soon moving back in with her parents. For those who don’t know, Jenn is a full-time EMT, a single parent and a dedicated fitness enthusiast and excels in all three areas. Forumites have rallied around her as she’s made this difficult but wise decision to better manage her multiple commitments. The word dedicated to Jenn is Solutions.
5. Ninja started an interesting OffTopic thread asking which words you overuse in your everyday talk. While everyone has their own unique verbal ruts, most were on the same page with the idea that the world would be a better place for our kids if there were a few less f-bombs flying around. Poster word: Agreement.
6. The Current Events forum was extremely thrilled with the success of the Democratic Party in House, Senate, state and local elections this week. Their word is Justice.
7. The Nutrition Forum had another discussion about ZMA. Even though the evidence is spotty, several people noted that their sleep is much deeper and better when taking the mineral supplement. So we still all hope that future studies don’t show ZMA to be worthless and fake, much like its inventor (Victor Conte). Until further proof of its efficacy, people have to decide for themselves if it’s worth a try. Their word is Belief.
8. Rookie posted in the NROL Forum that he has begun the Break-In workout from the book. Although he was already in great shape, he still was surprised at the exhaustion Alwyn’s programs can induce in only 30 to 45 minutes. Alwyn’s word is Efficiency.
9. Sports fans were either gleeful or depressed (depending on where they live) after the Chicago Bears suffered a crushing defeat on Sunday, their first loss of the year. In honor of their effort, the Bears’ word is Teamwork.
In other sports news, All-Pro runningback Tiki Barber has said he will retire at the end of this season from the New York Giants, even though he physically looks capable of a few more seasons. Why leave early, you say? Well, like many athletes, he’s probably ready to get a kickstart on his music career. Hey, it worked for Carl Lewis (see below… he won a Grammy for this , right?).

Cressey should have used that video in his leg extension article. Theres no discussion after witnessing that!

If you thought that video was bad, I've got others that are far worse. There's one in particular that I've tried to watch three times, and still haven't gotten through more than 30 seconds. It's very possibly the worst music video in the history of the universe.
Also, if anyone needs help beating the Bill Cosby game, let me know. There's a trick.

Awesome recrap, RL. The vid was the icing to the cake. Man, was that terrible. What the hell was he wearing and why did it have a little white belt? :/
