This is my 2000th post. Most people seem to have a clever way of going about these types of milestone posts. My own special way was to not post anything for the last 5 days. I didn't know what to say and have had a busy week, so I didn't have the time to think about it.
Most of my time on jpfitness.com is spent in one of 4 subforums: Training Discussions, The Training Log, Off Topic and Sports Discussions. I've dabbled from time to time in other subforums, but these 4 are where people actually see me. Here is my perspective and some thank you's for each section:
Training Discussions: The reason I came to this site. After being a member of the Men's Health forums and seeing the quality of the content rapidly decline, I saw someone mention JP's site and decided to check it out. Needless to say, I immediately began to learn new things about working out, proper diet and other fitness related topics. I haven't actually started a whole lot of discussions in that forum, but I have gained knowledge from so many bright people that I can't even list them all. Thank you to everyone for continuing to infuse that forum with high quality discussions, from the professionals to the enthusiasts.
The Training Log: The dedication of my fitness regimen took a serious turn for the better when I started my own training logs earlier this year. I started reading about people like BamaDave, Mahler and kmwest. These logs were not only informative, but they gave me inspiration to buy the Book of Muscle and start my own log. By logging my workouts, I drew more motivation from encouraging commenters like gobbla, Bill2380, and once again Mahler. Amazingly, I was even able to motivate and provide some tips for kingkop182 as he began BOM shortly after me. In 6 months on BOM, I did not miss a workout and I owe it in part to the accountability that comes from a public journal. Thanks everyone!
Off Topic: This forum might be the reason that I continued coming to this site. I know that when I want to read a funny story or see a funny video, I can swing by the Off Topic Forum. It has also consistently amazed me how open and kind people are here. Thanks to everyone here for brightening my work day.
Sports Discussion: An extension of off-topic, this is where I get to discuss my favorite pass time with a diverse group of fans. Thanks to Q, Kaiser, ninja, twinsavsvikingsfan, TheSteve, TrainingGirl and Howard Rourke for the interesting discussion and friendly rivalries that we've created.
In closing, I have been implored by a few people to make this post a good one. Well, here goes...
I doubt any of you remember this, but a few weeks back, I commented in a Random Thorsday Thread that I was "having a great day. I hope you are, too." Well, I've got some news to share with you. I found out that morning that my wife is pregnant. I haven't had a bad day since.
Thanks for being part of this forum, Jamie. You're a great guy and you'll make one helluva Dad. Congrats to both you and your wife. When's the due date?

Nick- I'm going to guess that you're advising me not to name my kid Peyton. Don't worry, the Lions are my #1 team. I'm more likely to name my kid Barry or Herman.
Rob- Thanks for the kind words. The due date is June 9th. We seriously can't stop thinking and talking about it.

If I'm going Lions I would go with:
Martzie
Matthew Millen Rucker
Porcher (that would be a sexy name)
Joey
Scott
Mitchell
I think one of those names would work beautifully.

Nick- I'm thinking that being named after a Detroit Lion might immediately put a negative stigma on a kid. That's why I'm going to go with Chauncey or Tayshaun.

Congrats to you and your wife! Have you been spending time on the 'Lost' island? Been getting it on, all dirty, in a cage after breaking rocks all day? Or quietly, all zen like, in a tent on the beach?
You're one of the handful of people from the forum that I would like to meet in person. If for nothing else than you can discuss two of my favorite subjects, sports and 'Lost'.

We tried everything.

That would be cool. I haven't been to Chicago in a while, but I will let you know the next time I'm in the area. My in-laws live in Bourbonnais (an hour south), so the opportunity may arise in the future!

Chicago hell! You're coming to my summit! Consider it one of your last acts as a free man.
I am seriously excited to hear your news. There really isn't anything better in life than children. I remember how I felt after I first found out, and it was a lot like what you are describing. From what I know about you from in here I have every confidence that you will be an great dad.
Jamie,
Congrats on the big 2k. And my very best to you and your wife on the upcoming jruck jr. You have been a real asset to this forum and I am pretty pleased to be mentioned in your milestone post. All my best and keep walking on air, my friend.

That is REALLY exciting! I'll pray for great blessings during this exciting, scary, new journey that you guys are on! Remember: you don't need all that stuff that's out there to buy (although a good swing is worth whatever $$ you pay!) that baby just needs you and it's mama to love it! You'll do GREAT!! Congrats!
Thank you, everybody. I don't think I could possibly explain how excited we are about this pregnancy.
JP- I am definately game for coming down to Little Rock, but I'd have to get spousal approval first. One key that I hold... My wife's grandma lives there. I'm not sure if she'd want to make the roadtrip at 7 months pregnant, but it would be worth a shot.
Jamie, I missed this yesterday somehow. Congrats on the baby. That is so awesome! Being a father is the greatest thing. Nice post as well, and thanks for the mention. (my first in a milestone post!)
If you want to go with a Lions name, how about Alex, as in Alex Karras?
