Geez. I'm actually reading and viewing in a decent amount of time. ha!
Funny story actually.
I got my DSL setup and it wouldn't install. I called the help line and found out that my Windows 98 is only version 1 and the minimum is version 2 to support high speed. Ok, I go out and buy XP at Walmart and come home to install it. Come to find out my computer is so old (8 years) that it doesn't have enough memory to support XP! I call up my buddy to vent and he tells me to get rid of my dinosaur of a 'puter and get with the times.
I take back XP and buy an E machine at Walmart (with the mrs' discount) for right at $300. Comes with XP and now I'm finally up and running.
One thing leads to another, leads to another. :p hahahahahaha Anyway, I'm certainly enjoying running at a fast clip, seeing videos and pics and not having to take 15 mins or more to get on-line.

Congrats! I'm close to staging a riot outside Bellsouth headquarters due to their continued delays in offering DSL service where I live. I think my area and some remote sections of Mongolia and Antarctica are the only remaining parts of Earth where it isn't offered. We also have no wireless or cable options. The only possibility is satellite, which is incredibly expensive.

Dave, that's freaking funny. Dial-up sucks. Thankfully, my last move took me back to a more populous area of the state and was able to get DSL. Where I was at, DSL wasnt' available as well as very little cell phone coverage. I thought I would die of old age while downloading certain things.

When I bought this place I was told ADSL would be enabled by the time I moved in and I should be within range to get it. Turns out it was on by the time I took over, however I'm out of range.
Really sucks when you consider I work from home over the net 90% of the time :p.

Do you at least use ISDN or modem coupling/pairing?
When I seen the title I quickly looked at the name and was disappointed it wasn't Mahler. Poor guy, but congrats to you, it will change your everyday use of the computer.
