Default RANT

I HATE how gyms close early on the weekends. I HATE it. Not everybody works out Monday, Wednesday and Friday; some people have to go in on a Saturday and possibly, yes that's right, a Sunday.
Some of these people who do not workout on the "normal" days don't have their weekends completely free either. Take myself, for example. I had driving lessons from 9 this morning until 4 this evening. Obviously I can't drive myself around, meaning travelling takes a bit longer. So no, I couldn't go before driving lessons (sons of bi+ches were probably closed then, too). This means I had to go AFTER driving lessons.
So I get home at 4:30 and eat. I throw some clothes in my bag, some powder in a drink container and then proceed to hit the washroom - I have to take a pregame sh!t, otherwise I'll have to go at halftime, not good. I then wait twenty minutes before leaving my house (the bus that goes from my house to the bus depot runs only once an hour on saturdays, and not at all on sundays, but that's another rant. sons of bi+ches.) So I take the bus to the bus depot. I then proceed towards the gym, noticing the lights are off. 'No way' I think to myself. 'It can't be closed, surely there must be people that want to work out at this time'.
I was SO WRONG. It wasn't even six o'clock, and all the lights are off, everyone is gone, and the doors are locked. I felt like breaking through the wall just so I could go in and throw some weights around.

Now if this was an upper body day I wouldn't care at all. I really wouldn't. But today was my lower body day. It was suppose to be filled with squats, deadlifts, step ups and split squats. It was also the 3x15 day, the most dreaded day of the week. But I spent the week preparing for it mentally. I was ready to go. I was ready to do some serious damage to myself, and laugh hysterically at how much bigger and stronger it will make me. My day is now ruined.

Sons of bi+ches.

Assholes. Sorry about it man, go hook yourself up to a car, throw it in neutral and run up the street. Should get 'er done.

Thanks E. That put a smile on my face last night.

I actually wish I could do that. That would be awesome.

i feel your pain - our Y closes early every night (not enough time for me to get there after work) and opens late on the weekends (i'd rather go in the a.m. when i have time) i can't win.

The basement here is always open....but not always inviting!

That's one of the reasons I work out at home...the gym is ALWAYS open.

Must be nice. What gym is that? Or are you being a wiseguy and I'm about to find out you workout at home...:p
I usually work out in my garage so this would never be a problem. Yesterday, though, we bought a shed and had to throw that in the garage until we could put it together today. Apparently it can't be outside until we're ready to put it up

Sorry to hear that Java. Have you figured a way to get there that works for you?

Bummer, Matt. Mine is open till 10 all nights except Sat. when it's open only till 8:30. Usually, that allows me enough time in the evenings to get in there. Guess you'll be looking for a new place now, eh?

My fitness center is 24/7 as well. Too bad you don't live nearby.

No. They had Lee Priest there one time too but I didn't go either. They do get some big powerlifters in there so the equipment is top notch.

Actually, that was suppose to be my first day there. I haven't boughten a membership yet. Know what that means? They just lost themselves a customer.

OG, I checked out the pictures of your gym, it looks pretty nice. Do you ever meet any of the powerlifters that go in, or do you mostly just let them do their own thing? They'd be my best friends.

JP - I wish there was a gym like yours around here, from what I've seen/heard it seems like an incredible place. You said it's open 24/7, do you find you get many people in during the night?

At least you found out before you paid your bucks. That's a relief. Make sure you check the hours on your next gym.

Oh, and never ever ever use the word "boughten" again or I will report you to the board's Grammar Police and the outcome will not be pleasurable for you. :p

When I worked out in the evening I met a lot of them. Great guys and always helpful. The owner is a PL and he's helped me a lot. Now i go early in the morning so I don't get to see many of them.

It's something to watch some of these guys move some real serious weight (in the ranges that Eric does).

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language says it's ok.:p

That's great that you had that opportunity OG. Everyone at the community centre gym is either too old, too young, or too, um.. aesthetically focused to be into powerlifting.

Actually, I saw the second person ever to use the squat rack for squatting (not including me) last week. I started going there three years ago. The guy had three plates on each side too, I was very impressed.
