Default Periodizing or Cycling Alarm Clocks

So, I slept through the alarm, two days in a row. Thankfully, I didn't miss work or an important wedding or something.

Time to put this clock away and switch to another for a while.

Anyone else have to change alarm clocks up, periodically?

"Annoying buzz" starts tomorrow. Hasta la vista, "pleasant little chime!"

I use my alarm clock and my cell phone. I'll change things up or just set both. Sometime, I'll hear the clock and not the phone and other times it'll be vice versa.

Light sleeper here. Alarm clocks on a whole tend to scare me awake.

I'm with Kevin, I set my cell and my alarm clock and one or the other wakes me up.

I've had the same alarm clock for 20 years. It has settings for 2 different alarms. Each has a slightly different tone. I can tell which is which, and seeing they are always set in the same order there have been times that I have not realized I've turned off the first and when the second alarm goes off I know I have to get up just by the tone.

If this clock dies, I will have to stay awake the rest of my life.

I really only need one when I'm waking up around 5AM for a run and use the one on my watch. Usually I'm already awake or waking up off and on before the 6AM radio alarm starts going off (time to get the kids up). I seem to be a pretty light sleeper.

I've had the same clock for years and years (translation: I don'd know exactly). It's from my batchelor days and it really is obnoxious. My wife hates it and has threatened to either take a hammer to it or run over it with the car. That's the main reason I keep it..... it bugs her.

I usually go to bed at a regular time and wake up at the same time every day as a result. So my alarm clock rarely has to even go off. I can usually turn it off before it rings. My sleeping husband is thankful.

But when I used to have this issue, I didn't change alarm clocks, I put the alarm clock in the bathroom off the master bedroom. I HAD to get up the shut the thing off!

I don't hit the snooze. Just don't hear it. Although, sometimes I work it into my dream.

You must be one of those incredibly deep sleepers! OK, new clock for you!

I'm trying to imagine a dream with an alarm clock sound in it, hahahahahaha. I don't want to have that dream!

Get a clock radio, put it to a hard rock station and turn up the volume.

I've fallen out of bed with sweating, haggard fear from my radio.

I'm a light sleeper. I've had the same clock radio since 1985.

I like Cynic's suggestion of the clock radio. But put it on a rap station. Every morning you'll have that urgent "Please, make it STOP!!!" feeling that will get you out of bed.

I slept on my couch a few nights last week because I've been having problems falling asleep in bed and my couch is wicked comfy. I found that I slept lighter and woke up naturally at 530, which is when I try to get up every morning. I felt a lot more energized for the day though. I have a much harder time waking up when I sleep in my bed then when I'm on the couch For some reason I have a hard time falling asleep in my bed.

5:30.... you people are nuts. Nuts.

I woke up at 7 the last three mornings.

Therefore, I am skipping class and sleeping all day tomorrow. I'm entitled to that.

I use my cell phone, which I think plays "Push It" by Static X. The only thing that kills me is that damn SNOOZE button. I wish whoever invented it could "uninvent" it!!

I generally wake up a few minutes before my alarm if I get to bed on time. On weekends when I can sleep in my internal clock still gets me up around 3AM.

I set my alarm with the intention of hitting the snooze a couple times (set it earlier than I want to get up). This way, I get the immense satisfaction of making the alarm shutup and I can ease more into the waking up process (I'm an anti-morning person).

As we all keep reading in the fitness articles, if you are sleeping through your alarm, or extraordinarily groggy when it goes off, you aren't getting enough sleep. Stop posting at JPF and go to sleep earlier!

Have some hearing difficulties, so use a clock radio set to a talk station. Human voice frequencies work for me in both ears. And it doesn't have to be loud. Experiment. I don't like to be shocked and blasted, just waked up. Rob

I hear everything when I'm sleeping... I can roll over and the sounds of the sheets moving can wake me up. I have no trouble hearing my alarm...

When I'm on morning flightline I have to be up at 0430 to make it to class by 0515. Then, I had Saturday and Sunday to adjust my sleep schedule to be at flightline at 1730. This new schedule is 10x better. The early mornings suck.

My absolute favorite schedule was when I lived in SC with my parents working my retail job: 3-11. I could go to the beach right before work and show up, sometimes directly from the beach. Also, I could be very nocturnal and sleep it off in time for work. Since I'm such an anti-morning person anyway, even if I didn't do any of that it's still preferable.
