Amazing. My brother-in-law was just telling me recently about a couple of people who were taken by Great Whites (or white pointers as they're called Down Under) off the coast of South Australia. My b-in-l does not allow his daughters to swim off the side of his boat any more!

Never heard them called white pointers rob.

From memory there are about 2-3 shark attacks off australia each year.

If that photo is real then i'd sure as hell be saying my prayers.

White Pointies! As Brandon (the light weight drinking, NAUI diver, fooling us into going in to a gay bar bastard!) once told us in Sydney!?!

Things like that are why I don't feel bad about not being able to swim. You feel comfortable, you go out and have fun, BLAM, you're chum.

Bill...is that a guy (you) holding up a furry woodland creature killed with a hatchet?

I'm a wussy. I haven't been able to set foot in the ocean since seeing Jaws back when it played in the theater.

There's another video on youtube showing a young woman getting attacked and losing her leg off the coast of Chile to a great white. It's pretty sad and it's filtered content on YT.

I refuse to lower myself on the food chain by putting myself out of my element.

Gobbla, it was the first day of Hatchet/ skunk season here in Arkansas. I got my limit right away and I was showing off a bit but I eat everything I kill unlike some hunters.

Just kidding I found the picture and it seemed to represent the way I look at life so in a sense it is me.

just had to ask. for whatever reason that picture just brings a whole host of questions to my mind.

cynic> that's what I'm talking about. we're humans. for the most part, most of us have to go pretty far out of our way to get eaten by something on land. you have to work for it, so if your dumb ass gets eaten by a lion or some crazy shit like that then the gene pool is a little better off.

I know what you mean it's kinda scary, possibly to scary, so maybe those questions that arise from it should be allowed to die unanswered.

I'll look around for another one.

Here's a little levity for what can be such a unnerving topic:

When I made it back to dry land, I'd have to clean the kayak out! That is unless human feces is a shark deterant...
