Unhappy Buck O'Neil

It's not looking good. The family has been called and those with him are "very concerned."

If it happens, it will be a sad, sad, sad loss for the baseball community. I'm going to cry when he does pass. The amount of passion and life this man had for the game, and for life was unreal. Truly a great person, and the Hall of Fame will be emptier without him.

Definitely will be a big loss to baseball. The man deserves to be in the hall.

It was very classy what he did this summer by representing the Negro League inductees to the HOF even though he was not picked to enter.

Every time I saw Mr. O'Neil on TV it put a big smile on my face. I'd think, "Yes! Yes! That's the way you're supposed to feel about baseball." Put him in the Hall (along with Shoeless Joe).

I can't imagine why the HOF committee just doesn't put him in. It'll be a damn shame if they do it after he passes.

Agree 100%. He should definitely be in the Hall.

As previously said, he just made me smile when I saw him. If not for his accomplishments as a player and manager, he should be put in the hall for his contributions to baseball. It may not matter now though.

Baseball just lost a great man and gained a guardian angel.

This is indeed sad news. I can't think of any other athlete who embodies positive attitude and classiness the way Buck did.
