Sound recording software

My daughter needs to record her guitar playing. She's got the mics for the accoustic and an electric guitar, too.

I just need some simple to use software to download/use on my PC (Windows XP) to record it.

High quality, fancy effects, and mixing are not required. There will just be to one input. No singing or anything to go with it.

I'm going to help her for this weekend's project, but if there's a really simple one, she'd love to have it on her laptop to play around when she gets together with her guitar playing friends.

Any suggestions?

Get Audacity. Free and very capable.

You can just use sound recorder also. It comes with XP. I use Cool Edit Pro and N-Track, but both cost and do multi track recording.
