Anyone here into disc golf? I'm wondering because I'm looking at things to add at state parks to attract an under 45 yr old crowd. We're already adding more mountain bike and hiking trails, improved lodging and campgrounds, more interpretive programs for various age groups and a host of other things.
We have some parks with nice large lawn areas that would be perfect for putting in a 9 or 18 hole course. We would rent disc golf sets and sell them in the visitor centers so people could try it out if they wanted to. It would never be a big revenue piece in and of itself but it could increase visitation which brings some cash into the park and local communities.

The park beside where I live has them set-up and I play around on them once in a while. Fun game, really easy to learn too.
The only thing is, most people have frisbees and thats all you need to play. So, it might be hard to keep people off of it, of course this is without knowing the park situation.
The good thing is, its a cheap game. The costs of the baskets I suspect would not be to high.
But... I didnt think this was an under 45 type game. Most people I see playing it are a little older then this I would guess. Then again, I live close to a bunch of retirement homes..
I am very interested in the subject as well because the pool I work at has a bunch of space that needs to be used. 19 acres in fact. We've proposed adding a disc golf course, I think we found holes (or whatever you call them) at about 65 bucks apiece. However, people are very unsure about how much it would be used. I think it would be a great addition to the club, and it would be an attraction that a lot of other pools didn't have.

I tried it once and was bored out of my mind. I don't play regular golf, let alone disc golf. It's just not my thing, but apparently lotsa people play it.

Perhaps a nice game of paintball commando would get your blood pumping.

Keep in mind that good disc golf courses generally aren't played in wide open grassy areas. You need a fair number of trees and obstacles to make it interesting for anyone other than brand new players.
Ahh disc golf, or better known as the game that dislocated my shoulder and severely set my training back. According to frequent disc golfers, shouler dislocation is very common.
I used to play a lot, but stopped playing when the little ones came along. I want to pick it up again. My dad plays it just about everyday down at Burns Park or Cabot or in Mississippi.
If you need more help, let me know.
