I'm sitting here looking out my living room window at a very intense thunder storm. 30-40 mph winds, driving rain, flashes of lightning going off every few seconds, the sound of thunder never quite dying off before another rumble starts.
Across the road, my neighbor and a few of his friends are frantically trying to get some tar paper nailed down after they tore his roof off this morning. I'm trying to figure out if the first one is going to be blown off, slip off, or get nailed by lightening. Or will fear finally take hold?
Any bets on whether common sense will set in before the inevitable 911 call?

You know it's bad to even have your computer plugged in during a thunderstorm, let alone on and hooked up to the internet.

Watching someone slip off a roof is classic. The best part is them trying to recover, scratching and clawing at anything. Ah, good fun. You should go throw stuff at them, make it more interesting.

Dammit Joe! Now why would you ruin good fun like that and be all noble and good neighbor-y. Now you make me feel bad!

Ditto...
So any news yet, are they still on the roof????
They finally got down, the storm moved on, they got back up and finished the roof. There was a really big flash and boom, and I heard one of them say "damn, that was a little too close" and they all ran for the ladder.

That IS crazy talk! I think they're idiots for being on a roof in a thunderstorm, so the first thing I should do is climb up there and help them out? Brilliant!
Plus the guy's a complete jackass. But on the upside, so far this summer he's replaced his carpet, painted and now the new roof. I'm hoping he's fixing it up to sell it and move away. He's passed me on my bike a few times, and is always careful to give me a foot or less room.
When I bought this place 5 years ago, there was a "berm" at the end of my driveway, which is just slightly offset from his on a gravel road. I happened to be in the garage one day a couple weeks later when his son came flying down their driveway and I realized that he was using that "berm" that he'd built up as a kind of banked turn. So I went out and knocked it down with a shovel and leveled it all out. Next day dad was out there pulling his kid's car out of the ditch with a tow strap. I stood outside with a cup of coffee and watched. It's been five years now, and still no more berms at the end of my driveway.
