Default Anti-Supersize Me

Appearing in the anti Supersize Me movie

Again, found from Adam's blog.

I'm interested in this movie. Hopefully, it will get more play than some of the other Supersize Me rebuttal flicks. I didn't see any of them, as they never made it to a mainstream theatre near me. Then, I forgot about them. They may be on DVD, but I can't even remember the names...

I am also interested in it. I hated supersize me.

I sorta view this as more of a, I can show you whatever I want if I set out with a pre-defined notion of what I want wake up call. I hated supersize me. Spurlock set out to tell a story, fine. He had a predefined goal, fine. America felt he had made a documentary and were being shown the "truth". I don't think Spurlock did anything to disuade that.

People need to know that it is not the truth. It was a sensational piece with as much made up as not.

Looks interesting. I'd see it. I didn't like Supersize Me. Spurlock is as much a "documentary" filmmaker as Michael Moore is (neither one is).

I didn't see the first and won't see this one either. They both fall into the "duh" category for me.

I'd see it, just so I can talk about it to others. It's duh for us, but not for the the general public.

I never saw Supersize Me. After reading this, I'd like to check out both movies.

A double feature would be good!

For those who haven't seen it, here's a little project that was a counter punch to Supersize Me. Truth In Fitness

There was a movie, but I never saw it.

The problem I had with Supersize Me was that Spurlock was practically a Vegan before he started the project. The guy couldn't even handle a big mac, large fries and a soda without getting sick. He also wasn't allowed to exercise at all during the 30 days, and had to order every single item on the McDonald's menu at least once.

If you did the same experiment with any restaurant or even a supermarket and you would probably get similar results. There are unhealthy food choices everywhere we go, not just at McDonald's.

Truth In Fitness site was an interesting read to contradict Supersize Me. Thanks LD.

it irritates me for some reason. it boggles my mind that people want to defend fast food. grrrrrr

you CAN eat decently at 99% of fast food places. the kicker is people don't. it's not that you can't. you (in general) don't. if you choose to eat shit (reguardless if it's from your own kitchen or under the golden arches) it's going to catch up with you at some point. grrrrrr.

I understand that all the "anti-supersize me" things are not defending fast food. HOWEVER...jesus h christ...why in the hell would you make a big thing showing that eating salads and water is better than eating supersized cokes and fry's? And coming off like you've got "the real story". grrrr.

carry on.

Agree Gobbla. These anti-Supersize Me things are the equivalent of all that debunking DaVinci Code crap. Just another way for people to carve out a little money making niche for themselves.

I see Dr. Eades jumped on the Atkins bandwagon with his book as well.

It might not be so much defending fast food as attempting to not let it be demonized. yeah sure it sucks and is no good for you.

At the end of the day though the choices people make to eat that crap is the problem.

Most of us live in the US or Canada. We have the same temptations, the same pressures of life, we just choose not to eat there.

Spurlock's film pretty much said fastfood is the reason America is fat. I disagree. America is the reason it's fat. People eat to much and excercise to little.

As much as we discuss nutrition and lifting and cardio and the best prescriptions and protocols, if people just walked more and ate, even according to the frickin food guide, they would be A LOT better off.

Fast food exists in it's current form because people are pigs.
