Default Father/Son Lynn Peak Hike

On Sunday, my son James and I hiked Lynn Peak in the North Shore mountains of Vancouver. The peak viewpoint is at 920 metres and took about 2 hours up. I had not done this hike before and it was pretty tough on the little guy but he was a trooper and made it up with a minimal amount of whining. We had a great time and I now know more about "Captain Underpants" than I ever thought possible!

Me on the trail.

Another view from the Peak.

James cooling off in Lynn Creek at the end of the hike.

Thanks, Joe & Nick. Here's a link that describes the hike in a bit more detail.

So you completed a 4.0 out of 5.0? I have a hard time believing that lawyer-boy!

Not like it says "Trail Difficulty Rating." Maybe it's an overall trail rating meaning good views and an easy hike?

Og.

The trail rating refers to the quality of the trail, Nick. In this case, it was well-maintained and well-signposted. I suspect it didn't get a higher rating because of the loose rock terrain on one portion of the trail that, as some of the commentators mentioned, was a twisted ankle waiting to happen (especially on the downward trek).

LOL, Og. The difficulty rating according to this site is "difficult". I think that's a little overblown. It wasn't an easy hike but I've been on tougher ones for sure. I don't think any trail that a 9 y.o. could get up with relative ease should be classified as "difficult" ... well, maybe for the unwashed masses, I guess.

Yeah, those ratings are always so subjective. I suppose it would be a "difficult" hike for someone from, say, Regina ....

Looks like a great day!!! I wish my girls would hike without whining. It has to be great to have that kind of scenery practically in your back yard.
