Everytime a ball hits the keys it plays a note. It doesn't matter where on the keys, it plays the notes in a preset order.

I wondered that myself, actually. They make instruments for kids like this. We have a little violin that plays Mozart and other things when you simply touch the string with the fake bow. You control the rhythm, it just plays the next note in the sequence.
