I've used my work and cable company email addresses over the last 5 years, but I've got to get a non-ISP based email address, too. Something that won't change when I need to move, etc.
What are some good services to use?
I use a blackberry, so POP and SMTP access is needed. That would also help for Outlook use from my office, since my work blocks webmail from most sites.
I'd like one that most people are aware of, so I don't always have to spell it over and over (my cable company was @cox.net and people always tried .com, instead).
I'd like it to be around for a while, too. I've heard of gmail, but don't know if it's good, bad, etc. I've just heard of it.
i have and love gmail. but that's just me. i had hotmail, aol, and msn but didnt really love them. if you'd like a gmail invite i'd be more than happy to send you one

I need your email address please - and then check your spam filter cause i'm sure that's where it'll end up. anyone else who would like an invite just post your email address (or PM me with it)
my invites just show up at the bottom lefthand corner of the inbox. it says i have 42 left. i have no idea how i got them - they just appeared!
You guys are speedy this morning! Looks like gmail is the popular one, eh?
Just bored.

I really like gmail a lot, LD. You don't need to worry about storage and it's got a good spam filter. The threaded messages is the best feature IMHO - keeps things orderly. Another feature I like is that it connects you directly to Google Talk right from your inbox which is cool if you like IM'g.

They spam are going into your spam folder though, right?
If any of you are addicted to MS Outlook style of checking your email (I am because I use it so much at work) then you can download thunderbird, a mozilla email program very similar to Outlook, for free. They tell you how to configure everything, and gmail has a section that will allow you to grant POP access to the account and tells you what to do.
I think some of the spammers randomly generate e-mail addresses. I know I get spam co-addressed to almost anything closely resembling my username@my-isp.
Gmail is pretty cool. I'm using it for a few things but am considering making it my primary account. Plus the FBI will be able to intercept my messages more easily.
