Default Milwaukee Beer Run

I noticed that there are a few people from the Milwaukee area on this forum and thought you may be interested in this run. It is the Annual Locust Street Beer Walk and Run. It is a 1.8 mile course with four beer stops along the way. To qualify for prizes you must drink your beers. This will be my first year participating but friends of mine say it is a great time. There are a few serious runners but most of the folks are there for a good time and some even wear costumes. If you are interested you can get more information at www.locust-street.com/beerrun.htm

Ahhhh....Wisconsin.

Only America's Dairyland would have an event like this. God Bless the Cheeseheads. Sounds like a lot of fun but no cheese stops along the way?

Unfortunately, this goes against my current fitness goals, the beer drinking part, not the running part. So I will not be participating. But hey, chug a Miller for me!!

Go Brewers!!! The Cream City Crushers 2006!!!

I'm not a runner, but if you want support, I'll show up. I live a house or two up from Bartlett and Kenwood.

A local running club in my city has "The Beer Mile". You start by drinking one beer, then run a lap, then have another beer, then run another lap...after 4 laps you have ran one mile and consumed 5 beer. I believe the winning time last year was just under 8 minutes.

I run slow but can drink beer with the best of them, so I am hoping to break 10 minutes when I try it this year.

Cynic I am only good for a mile at a time Myself. Anything longer and my knees get the best of me for another week. Beer stops are spaced pretty well so we plan on jogging to the first and third and playing it by ear from there. If you are interested in meeting up send me an e-mail and I will tell you when and where. I should have a few of my other health converts down there as well and I have been promised that the scenery will be good. Or at least as good as it gets for Milwaukee.

I finished my inagural running of this event in a very modest 20:58. The race was a blast. Their were people all through out the course cheering you on. The beers were somewhat small so after the first beer stop I knew to grab 2 (important to stay hydrated). Not exactly a blistering pace but it was our first time for any type of run. My friend Gina has already set the goal for next years effort at 18 minutes. I am a little sore today but I am sure that has more to do with the post race beers than the actual running. It was a great time and I would definetly suggest the run to anyone who lives in the Milwaukee area. Even if you are not a drinker the festival that follows the run is a good time.
