No, not with a race car driver or French newscaster.
I opened a FitDay.com account. That can make you nuts and appear even nuttier to anyone you tell about it.

It does seem a bit nuts. I've been there.
It will seem less nuts if you only track things to an anal level for a ser period of time. You can even tell people that it for one month, say. To teach yourself what you are truly eating.
Then you can decide how anal and obsessive you're going to be on an ongoing basis. If it becomes second nature, no one will even notice that you do it. It's just a part of life.
I only keep up with my fitday account for a few days when I need to change up my diet. Once you get it all figured out in your head, it's pretty simple to at least maintain.

I take it that your trainer doesn't review it regularly?

I weigh or count everything, except onions(I never count their calories for some reason). I have only gotten food out 3 times(plus a few salads and chilis from Wendy's) in the last 5 weeks, and one of those was to a place that has macros on the menu(Red Lobster). The other 2 times I was very diligent about figuring out what I ate.
My log shows everything I have eaten in the last 5 weeks. With a calorie breakdown, and today I added a time history of my average caloric intake throughout the day.
Yeah Craig, I'm pretty much with you on the logging. As an IT propellerhead, I figure it's better to have the data, even if I don't use it cumulatively for trends, graphs, etc.
And yes, my wife calls me obsessive about it.

Yeah, been there, done that. I used to log everything IN DETAIL, then print it off so I could review what I ate, when! Plus, instead of listing the entire food for the day, I did it croniclogically also! (ex: a noon can of tuna, and a can later in the day became TWO entries, so I knew when I ate what). I recently threw away 2 years worth of food logs. Man, what I ate during bulking!!
HMMMM, reading that, maybe Mrs Colonal was right and I maaaay have been a little obsessed!
It is good, after a while you just know the macros.
I have logged every meal for the last 4 years. I do it religiously every day. It just becomes second nature and I don't think of it as obsession, just a daily dose of reality.

Howie I don't think of it as an obsession. It is a part of daily routine. Do you think you are obsessed when you shower or brush? No right.. then how can fitday logging be an obsession. This is a healthy habit as I see it.
